K/R Moto Vest

Angie's posts this spring convinced me that I should really consider a moto vest.  Following her link led me to this vest at Maurices, and on clearance!

It arrived today, and I think I like it - what do you think?

The fabric is woven and mid-weight.  I would use it as a third piece, though I rarely wear them - I like the idea of them for business casual type purposes.  I would also use it to bring a bit of structure over a sack dress, or similar situations.

I don't think it's terrific zipped - but I'm not sure I'd ever want to zip it either.  Does it otherwise look like it fits properly?  And does it seem like it would be a versatile piece?

It's just slapped on here, over a shirt from the laundry pile, because I had been wearing a dark sweater and didn't think it would show up well over that.  To be honest, I'll probably look about this rumpled wearing it anyway :)  Pictures are lightened a bit so that you can see detail, and vest is unzipped in all except #4.

I think more closet playing is called for. I like the idea of the vest over a sack dress or tunic over skinnies but would it actually work is the question. It could be a fun third piece.

I think it looks like it fits correctly, yes; and it seems pretty versatile (neutral color, etc.) I like the lines and movement. I think it looks good! How does it make you feel? Do you like it? Does it feel like you? (I'd guess yes on that last one)

KEEP. I really like it with the blue shirt. Moto styling may take some time for your eye to adjust, but I predict that this vest will be a workhorse and fit in with your style. Be sure to try it with sleeveless dresses and tops for summer. It looks just roomy enough to wear over even light weight swesters.

Keep it!  I like it too and think you could get some real wear out of this one. I like Joy's suggestions.

I like it too, particularly in the last pic where you have zipped it up. I can also imagine it over a crisp white blouse with slim pants and sleeveless dresses, like joy suggested.

    I love it.  Unzipped.

I think it's great and I like it exactly as you've styled it, the shirt, the jeans, the shoes and the hair.

I think this looks fun. Try zipping it only part way, not all the way. I find the asymmetry and the open points of a partially zipped moto to be the best way for me to wear these.

I really like it too! Big surprise there, right?

Thumbs up from me Amy!  I like how you've styled it here, you've got a kind of sexy mens wear thing going on!

Looks like a fun piece, and very versatile! Would look great with light pants as well.

Keep! Try it over a more soft material so it can drape itself instead of being shaped by the blouse. If that makes sense. If not, carry on.

Great best, hope you decided to keep it.  I own a bunch of vests and find them incredibly useful int eh summer as a third piece to complete an outfit.

This looks great, Amy! Looks like a good fit and just the right length in the front and back....I hope you keep it...you'll have lots of fun with this:)

    Keep. Looks fabulous.

    Terrific purchase!

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

I like it a lot! In the photos you posted I prefer it unzipped. It might look good zipped or partially zipped with a pair of jeans and a tucked top.

    I'd keep it for sure!

Great find, Amy!  Like Karie, I think a partial zip might work, too!

  • MTBGirl replied 8 years ago

I vote keep! What size is it? I got the medium and at first thought it was too small but after trying with some more tops I think it's the right size. I haven't actually worn it yet but it seemed to work with short sleeve and sleeveless best.

  • Kimberley replied 8 years ago

I like it when it's unzipped... I was thinking you should try zipping it 2/3 of the way and playing with the collar/lapel that's created by the partial zip?

Donna - I'm between a M and L in most brands right now.  Because Maurices seems to me to be a more "junior sized" brand, I ordered the large.  I ended up ordering the medium too, because the SA said she sized down, but in the end, I like the way the L fits over other clothes much better, so kept that one.
