Note: I'm not going to wear tops tucked in to these - at least not fully tucked - most likely. I just tucked here to show you the entire pant....

Great haul, Ami. The red skinnies are particularly fab, and I think the styling of the boots will give you some great looks. I call items like this "placeholders," because they fill a whole or let me explore a look while not intended to be permanent items in my wardrobe.

Wow! Love the red skinnies and the boots! I think the black ones look like they are just a bit too short - you want to be able to scrunch them just a little bit - and these don't look as though they are long enough to achieve that cool scrunch look! The red ones look great to me though - and I think you'll find that you'll almost be able to wear them as a neutral because they will go with a LOT of your tops. Also, $16. for those boots????? Unbellieveable! I say wear them until they fall apart - very very cool!

You have the type of body that was made for skinny jeans. Seriously, the red jeans look amazing on you. Not too bright. KEEP!
The black jeans are ok but look too short. I would hold out for a better pair, unless you can commit to wearing them sock less which is the way to wear short pants right now. Sock less with oxfords for ex., or loafers or ballet flats.. Or you could tuck them into your UWP new boots.

Black photographs super poorly unless you overexpose, but to my eye they both look great and really flatter your figure. Neither does that weird wrinkling at the crotch that pants sometime do. The red ones seem to be a great length with the perfect amount of scrunch, but I'm wondering if the black ones are a bit short, or if you intend to hem them to ankle length? It is hard to assess true length without footwear.
How do they feel when you squat down or do other kid friendly stuff? Any slithering down or loss of circulation? [Oh, and keep in mind that I do NOT wear skinnies so I am not exactly coming from a place of knowledge!] Boots look like fun, too!

If the jeans feel good, then I say keep! And the boots are fantastic...definitely keep on those.

The red skinnies look great. You will love them. I agree the blacks seem short. Boots are fab!

Great finds. I'd definitely keep the red skinnies and the UWP boots :) I think the black skinnies are too short unless you are only going to wear them tucked into boots.

I prefer the red skinnies as the darker pair look too short although if you wear them tucked into boots it won't matter and speaking of boots those are great.

Great skinnies! I LOVE the red, so keep! The black look good, maybe a tad short, but if you plan to roll them or tuck into boots all the time, they would work. The boots are just fab too.
Also, keep the cute little critter in the first 2 pics :)

The boots are excellent, and the red skinnies too! Like the others the black ones look a little short but would be perfect tucked into boots (that is what I save my shorter skinnies for).
Great haul!

What everyone else said, LOVE the red skinnies and the boots. The black pants are a bit short, but could work rolled up in spring and inside boots now.

Okay - thanks for the advice! The red stay, the black are iffy (I'll check to see if they'll lengthen, but probably return. I'll mostly wear them tucked in to something, but don't want to be restricted to it.)
Thank you!

Agree that the red jeans and boots are great finds. If you like the fit of the black jeans you might consider making them long shorts for the summer.

I agree the red skinnies look amazing on you! "they would replace three (count-em) pair of not-ideal red pants taking up space in my closet, and not getting worn." - excellent!! congrats!!
Since your going for an UWP style, I'd return the black ones. The only way that length could work (other than tucking them into boots) is to roll them so they're just above your ankle. That's not very UWP, is it?
Love the boots.

Red skinnies are fantastic on you - great fit and lovely colour. Definitely keep those.
The black skinnies fit you nicely but are definitely too short. If you always wear them tucked into boots, I guess that isn't a problem but they're too short to wear otherwise.
The boots are fab - keep!

The red skinnies are excellent. You really have the figure to rock skinnies! Wear them in their bright color! It looks great!
I would only keep the black ones if you are disciplined enough to only wear with boots or flats and no socks. Otherwise, I would return those.

You find good stuff at your thrift store! Those boots and red skinnies are great finds.

Loving the red skinnies and the boots!

Nice finds! I'm with everyone else, the black are too short and I'd return them before your window closes. Having too many "can only wear it one way" to hide this or that flaw items just leads to frustration.

Suz replied 11 years ago
Great finds!!! I am with everyone else in thinking the red ones and the boots are best, but you can wear the black ones tucked into those boots no problem! I love what Beth Ann said, too, about placeholders. This is what I did a whole lot last year as I was trying to build a wardrobe with little money and still unsure about my style goals. Then I got a job and started getting clearer about my goals (and spending more....ooopS!)

The red jeans are fabulous. Look at that cute figure!
Those boots are great and for $16 you should definitely hang on to them. They are fun and youthful. Just like you.
I think you can do better then the black pants. They are short, although, as Cocolion said, of you wear them with ballet flats, a la Laura Petry (do you know who that is?) they would be a fun wardrobe addition.

amiable replied 11 years ago
Thanks all - the black are going back before my window closes, and I'll hold out for a longer pair of black skinnies.
Suz - your wisdom about not investing a lot while I'm still searching for my style is a good one - that's what I hope I'm doing, since I still really have no idea what "my" style is, and am just playing around. Eventually, I'm guessing I'll settle into a style, then it'll be worth shopping for quality and longevity.
Henley - I don't know if I'm going for a UWP style, or if it's just a current infatuation - we'll see how it suits me as I try out bits of it. I don't really understand the style either...
And Moira, I had no idea who Laura Petry is, but I looked her up and see what you mean. While she's adorable looking, I suspect I'd feel awkward in pants that length.
I'm going to really enjoy those red jeans and boots while they last!

moira replied 11 years ago
GAAAAHHH. Someone please tell me you know who Laura Petrie ( I misspelled it) so I don't feel ancient.
-

Moira, no fear. I love Laura Petrie. She rocks slim ankle pants like no other! :-)
-
amiable replied 11 years ago
Okay, so you don't feel too old - I grew up mostly under a rock (i.e., no TV), and to this day have no television (a choice with never fails to astonish cable or Satellite TV salesmen!). So don't let my ignorance of any celebrity past or present make you think differently of yourself. I am actually that clueless!
-
amiable replied 11 years ago
And I misspelled Laura Petrie too (even though Google corrected me). She really does look adorable! And I really like the pants on her. Perhaps on a "vintage" or "retro" day....
:)
