Recommendations for long, warm tights?

I bought a couple of pairs of fleece lined tights a couple of years ago, when I first joined ylf.  They were a bit short, so I was always hiking them up, but they were wonderfully warm.

This year, I cannot find my black pair, and have decided that's all the reason I need to look for a better replacement.

I'm just barely on the brink of "tall" at 5'9", but I want tights that stay up (and probably have a high-ish rise.  I want feet on them - leggings are less versatile in my mind.  And I want them genuinely warm.

Any recommendations?

    Hi Amy,

I have no personal experience with these (and don't know how long they are), but I imagine the Uniqlo Heattech tights would be warm.

They come in various colours and patterns.

No idea Amiable, but giving you a bump as I and I'm sure many other cold people would love to hear recos on this ;)

I really like Hue sweater tights.

Thanks Inge - I actually considered the Uniqlo tights, but when I look at the size chart, I worry about being at the upper range of the L/XL.  If these run short at all, I wonder if they'll be too short.

That said - I have a pair on order from amazon that got positive reviews from tall women - if they don't work, I'll order and try them.  Thanks!

(And thanks Elizabeth - I'll check out Hue sweater tights too).

Try Amazon. Amazing what you can find, and the reviews are usually helpful. Fleece lined tights might be your best bet. You also have long legs so tall might be what you need!

Aha. I hear you, Amy, I often have the same problem. I'm holding thumbs that the ones you ordered will work out.

Which brand of fleece-lined tights did you have? I got Plush (http://plush-apparel.com/fleec.....ights.html), and can wear either S or M (5'4.5"), but the S is a slightly better fit. They come up plenty high on me - I can measure if you like. Perhaps their L would work?

I tried these from Royal Cult - and they didn't stay up even when I was standing still.  The rise is very short.

I have these Noble Mount ones on order in two sizes - they at least get positive reviews from tall women - so I think there's a chance...

The plush also looks promising - thanks!

I got cheap, and I mean cheap -- 2 pair for $15-- at Walgreen's last year. Love them. I'm 5-7, a size 12, and they are plenty long for me. Target has them, too. I'm apt to go cheap on these because I have found that cheap or expensive have the same lifespan for me. Good luck.

I got a pair of Landsend Thermaskin and they were surprisingly warm and lightweight. I can't comment on whether they'd work for someone who is tall and long-legged though... I'm short and short-legged! They only make two sizes and I got the S/M and it fit fine.

I got the Noble Mount ones from Amazon today, and the size up (XL) fits me great!  (I haven't even tried on the M/L - I don't think I need to).

I just bought a couple pairs of snug cotton tights from Sock Dreams (sockdreams.com). I remember them having a variety of weights and materials. Also an excellent selection of colors.
