Sweater and Bootcut proportions

I like this post, because it shows several length and shapes of sweaters with bootcuts.  So I tried on a variety of sweater lengths in my wardrobe with my current favorite pair of bootcuts - black bootcut jeans.

I'm posting them from shortest to longest.

#1 cropped sweater with bootcuts.  I wore this last week.  I'm not sure that I'm quite comfortable with a short top and long bottom proportions - does it look weird, or does my eye just need to adjust? (#2 is front view, tried on today)  This one has a welted hem.

#3 brocade sweatshirt - no welt on hem.
#4 welted sweater
#5 drapey sweater (semi-tucked)
#6 chunky, long sweater (semi-tucked)

Which of these work (or don't work) proportionally with the bootcuts?

I need an asymmetrical pullover, don't you think?

I do think #1/2 is a tad short with the jeans. I think everything from #3 on looks fine lengthwise, with the longer tops semi-tucked. #4 is my favourite, the sweater has a good length with the welt and looks just a little bit slouchy. #3 looks more classic to me, but lovely. It's a great color. I'm less sure about #5/6, but I can't quite put my finger on why.

I like them all, but am least partial to #3. The top doesn't look like a sweatshirt, Amy. It's neither here nor there to my eye. The rest of the styles look a lot more fashionably intentional, if you know what I mean.

#1 looks great at that length if you don't feel over exposed.

You have a great sweater collection. I want them all! I like the longer versions better.

For me it's all about the hem, I'm really enjoying curved hemlines with bootcuts right now.

    Thanks all -
Angie - I've been thinking the same on that sweatshirt.  I think it'll get donated - it looks kind 'neither here nor there' with everything I try these days.

I think they all look good, but like Angie, I am least partial to #3, although I like the colour on you.

I really like the first, least partial to #3, and am wondering how #6 would look layered over some long sleeve T (but maybe that is because I am cold today!!!)

This was very interesting as I'm struggling with sweaters too. I like the last three best (longer ones)

I love #1,2,4 and 5. I think they all look great with the boot cuts. And I think you would probably get a lot of use out of an asymmetrical sweater- it would fit in nicely with your usual stylish casual looks.

I like #1 and #2 (same) the best.  The cropped sweater makes you look leggy.  I guess that is part of the appeal of bootcut jeans.

#4 is my favorite, Amy.  It's fluid, but still skims the body.  I agree that all work, but the red sweatshirt is the least effective -- just not as modern.

I really like #1 and #2, and I don't think it looks too short at all. My next fav is #4, followed by #6.
