I vote for 3, 4 and 5 because of the fit and fabric. The others are good enough, but these are the best in my opinion. I love #4 on you in particular.

I am a total enabler. I like them all and think they would all work with your climate and lifestyle. I I have to pick two to cull, it would be 1 and 6.

I like 3, 4 and 5 the best. Five is my favorite.

I like 4, 5, and 6 the best. 3 is pretty nice, too.
My faves are 4 and 6. You look great in these colors!

I vote #1 and #4, and if you're keeping a third then #3. I like the idea of a fun gingham for you, but that one isn't quite right. Plus I think you'd enjoy one in a less conventional and more fun color :)

#4 is a definite keeper. Then #1, but I might keep an eye out for a flannel plaid that has colors like #5.

#1 is my favorite, followed by #2 and #6. I especially like the colors of #1 on you, and I like its drape. The sleeves are a little long, but you can wear them rolled so easily, it's not a big detractor for me. I also like the colors of #2 and the design of the shirt (the pockets are cute and not overly busy looking). And #6 strikes me as a nice bright, simple design and I think it's flattering on you.

They're all good, but I like #2, 3 and 4 best. If I had to pick a favourite, it would be 4, I like the black and white on you.

Suz replied 9 years ago
I like #4. Since it is cotton and can even be worn on a not-too-hot summer day, it fills one function.
So keep one of the flannels as well. I'm not sure which. Each has its positive aspects. E.g. I like the pockets on 2; and I like the pockets less on 3, but the overall fit seems better. I would go by the quality (which you can tell much better than any of us). The fit is not perfect on any of them, but you can disguise that a bit by rolling sleeves, semi-tucking, etc.
I also like the gingham on you.

They all look good, but my vote is for #2 and #4. #2 because the colours look good on you and #4 because the fabric will be versatile.

#4 immediately caught my eye, but I thought that might be bias because I just bought a black/white one myself. #6 is good too. #3 I like the colors but think might be too short.

I'm beginning to think we may just confuse the issue for you. I react mostly to colour and contrast so #1 would not be a fave of mine on anyone. But the length is good.
#2 love this--please send it to me in 2x!
#3 looks small. Meh.
#4 I like this on you--but the fabric misalignment at the buttonholes--does it bother you? What about the pockets? These are quibbles.
#5 Lovely colours. Is it too short?
#6 I love this to pieces. If you do, you keep it.

Numbers 1 and 2 look too long when untucked. The shorter shirts give you a longer leg line. I like number 4 the best.

2, 4 and 6 are my favorites, Amy. I think Suz has a point -- quality is easier to see IRL -- I'd let that influence your decision, too.
I have not a single plaid shirt in my closet!

Beth Ann - do you want a plaid shirt or two? I clearly have a few to spare! :)

Six is my favorite by a mile! Next is #4. I like the plaids too, but gingham makes my heart sing and I think the blue is super flattering on you.
-
amiable replied 9 years ago
Thanks for all your input - I expected there to be more of a clear winner that there is.
Here are my thoughts:
#1 is super soft, but I wonder if the colors are too warm and muddy for me. I like the huge ness of it :)
#2 seems not good quality to me, but I like the lightness of its colors.
#3 - I love the colors. It needs some button work, but I think I'm willing to do it. It's tight in the midsection when I'm bloated. I think I'll sew the missing button(s) then double check the fit.
#4 isn't great quality, but I like the weight of it and the colors.
#5 is too short for my preference, but I love the colors.
#6 I like, but wish it was softer - more washed in. It's too crisp (stiff) feeling to me.
My favorites are #3 and #4, I think. I'll inspect them further for quality. And maybe wash #6 a dozen times... #1 will probably stay in the basement thrift shop to see if I reach for it, and #5 might too - but I'm more inclined to watch for another plaid with similar colors.

You look so good in plaid.
I prefer it when you tuck, regardless of the shirt.

Number 4 by all means is by far the most flattering on you. I like 2 and 5 as well.
