The Lemming, and WIW

My larger-size lemming jacket arrived today.  I'd ordered both a 12 and a 14 after the 10 didn't fit.  But only the 12 came (yes, I was billed for them both though).  It's obviously a return (it's a tiny bit dirty, and the cardboard insert was thoroughly rumpled), and the leather is mottled, like Mo's.  BUT, I like the way it fits, and I think I like the leather mottled too.

What do you think?  Ooh - just noticed the terrible light.  Perhaps better pics tomorrow in better light.

I've also been playing with the 'Tomboy' descriptor - going for a 'Happy Tomboy' vibe as I think about what to wear.  Trouble is, I'm not sure how to achieve it.  Here's today's attempt - what would 'tomboy' it up some more?

What a shame about the jacket, Amy. But it's tough to see the details, so yes, let's see photos in better light if you can.

You look very tomboy in the last pic! For "happy" I suggest Spiegel send you the full order in good condition, LOL.

I really like it on you. I didn't think I would, you know. Are you thinking of keeping it - or getting another 12 sent out? I rather think you should.

I emailed customer support with both complaints, so I'll see what they offer.  According to their website, they're sold out - so my guess is that they're going to give me my money back on the 14 (they'd better), and allow me to return, but not receive another 12.  If that's the case, I'll keep it. I really do like the slight mottling in the color - it makes it seem well weathered to me.

Better pics tomorrow if I get the time!

From what I can tell, the fit looks great Amy.

Oh, you too??  I decided to just 'go with it' on the mottling.  Mostly it's in back anyway, plus the size was sold out, so there was no returning possibility.   There is a hang tag on the jacket that mentions how discolorations shouldn't be seen as flaws, blah, blah, blah.

Hard to see but looks good!

I'm waiting for mine!  Let you know how it goes.  It's hard to see in the light, but, since the 10 was close, I imagine this is the right fit for you.

As for Tomboy, you're showing even more resemblance to Amelia.  She wore quite a bit of leather, I think.

    Jacket looks good!

And I like your tomboy description too.

This jacket looks good and while I hope Spiegel does right by you, at the super low price points, you may be able to go with the more distressed look to  play up your tomboy side.

I bought a second one for my daughter to try.  She isn't so fond of the draping, but at this price point,  she decided to play with it and see how she likes it.  The fact that the back is fitted helps, but if you are a tailored, low volume dresser, it is an adjustment.  I don't see any of these jackets on their website now.

Amy, the jacket looks good from what I can see. The shoulder fit looks good, and I like the length. Look forward to seeing some more photos. I'm sorry about the 14, but it does look like the 12 works.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Yes, I'm pretty sure the 14 would fit in the shoulders.  I think the 12 hits the sweet spot.  Thanks all!

I like your Happy Tomboy descriptor - it seems fitting to your style.  The jacket looks like a good fit, from what I can tell.

I like the idea to add an army style jacket (or a moto jacket) and sneakers or rugged booties to outfit in #4.
