WIT: Olive and Black

Citron is, so far, about the worst color on me.  Olive is a not-so-distant second worst color, but I find it almost irresistible in a thrift store and keep trying it.

This is the most recent olive acquisition - bought in the 10/$10 Goodwill sale a couple of weeks ago.  I like the dress (and when it's not over a bunch of layers, I think it fits well), but I'm not sure I can pull off the color.

Now that my hair is red though, I figured I may as well try olive again when I saw the ensemble today.

So here's two attempts - worn over my skirted leggings and a thermal tee, and with my black leather jacket and boots.

I doubt I'll wear it out today, but is there anything about this that works?  (pic 3 shows the color more closely with my hair and complexion)

I think it totally works - in fact, I think it looks really great. I especially like #1 with the dress left open like a long jacket. Well done!

Yay! The olive looks lovely with your hair and complexion. The hair really makes your face nice and rosy, and that works well with the olive (like Angie's Olive and Pink pairing).

Thanks!  I like the way it feels left open too - and think it'll earn some wear when it's warm enough to not wear the thermal long-sleeves under it.
And it's amazing how the different hair color changes the color of my skin (or rather, gives the illusion of changing my skin color - it's not like it burned or dyed my skin, it just makes it look more pink)

My sister also looks terrible in olive and she usually wears it with a scarf to keep the color away from her face.  With your new hair, the color looks good on you though.  I like both outfits - fun layering and great boots.

The hair seems to make a difference. The dress and buckle boots are outstanding.

Definitely works with the new hair color :) I prefer the second outfit but they're both fun.

I think it works on you. I like the dress open.

I think this is fun. I, too, love olive but it's not my best color, so like Sara L.'s sister, I tend to use a scarf or layer something to keep it directly away from my face. I have a very similar dress to this, in olive corduroy and I love to wear it with a colorful turtleneck underneath...I tend to pair it with pink but it would look good with navy like you show here or even colors like orange or burgundy.

I like the dress open best. Looks good with your new hair color!

OMG!  When did you go read and when did it get so long???  You look wonderful!  I like the olive, I think it goes with the new hair - I find olive can wash out low contrast brunettes - it certainly washes me out anyway.  But I like it on you.

I really like you in olive! Also really like the look in the first photo.

Well look at that, your hair has mellowed a bit :) still very vibrant though, and I think olive looks great. Very cute with the jacket and boots!!

Thanks for noticing Trekkie!  I has mellowed, and I find it much more pleasant now.  I took pictures today in just about every color I own and will be posting them in a "does this color suit me with this hair" type thread.
