WIW: Blues (ETA: and yellow)

I don't know about you, but I'm sure tired of waiting for spring.... I know I have plenty more winter possible outfits, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas....

Anyway, I've been waiting for a warm enough day to copycat this look. I finally decided that I'd just quit waiting and do it. Of course I forgot about the leopard touches, and think that the outfit would have been much better with it. Oh well. Maybe next time.

And today I thought I'd try Angie's denim-on-denim formula. But I don't like the way it worked either - it's too bulky with this jacket, and too blah without it, and my pants look weird with these shoes.... *sigh*. I'll probably change before I go out running errands this evening.

What do you suggest? Just start over? Add yesterday's yellow jacket? What would improve yesterdays blue/black/yellow combo too?

ETA: Now with yellow jacket and boots. i don't think I like loafers (at least not mine), and it's too cold for rolled jeans. I'm not sure about this version either (probably will change again when I get a chance...)

suggestions?

I really love outfit 4, Amiable. This soft yellow is beautiful on you, and it looks great with the two different shades of denim. I like the juxtaposition with the tougher boots as well.
Have you tried the loafers with this outfit and the jeans completely unrolled, I'm curious to see how that looks too.

Yesterday's blue, black + yellow combo is lovely too. Those jeans are fab on you, by the way. I bet a patterned bootie or ankle boot (maybe animal print) would look great with this as well.

I really like 4! I think you really made it your own there, please don't change!!

Yes, I forgot to mention this and agree 100% with Ceit: please wear outfit 4 today!-)

I love #1 and #4 I like the idea of #3, but its a little denim overload. Great suggestions by Inge.... you look so lovely in yellow and Im right there with ya on wishing for Spring!

    Okay - not changing!

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I really second guess myself a lot in style. *sigh*. At least I'm pretty sure that I'm learning - maybe someday I'll have some confidence too.

    1. the bulk of the jeans overhelms the daintiness of the short and lightweight jacket.
    2. the denim on denim almost works actually, but I think the shirt is a bit too short or needs a tuck/semi tuck to balance.
    3. again the shirt under is too short to peak out from the jean jacket which is hip length and a bit heavy, is it your size really?
    4. you knock it out of the park with the shorter yellow topper which shows just enough of the shirt to be interesting but does not add extra bulk.

I thought you might want an opinion on why they worked/didn't work to me.

Thank you Jayne - it helps me immensely to know why something does/doesn't work.

I think I'm drawn to looks in #1 because I've always considered myself top heavy with spindly legs - so I gravitate toward making my top look smaller and my legs bigger - thanks for pointing out when I've taken that too far :) (In reality I'm not top heavy with spindly legs - I'm fairly proportional. I need to retrain my thinking)

I tried a semi-tuck in #3, and didn't like it - I didn't think to try it without the jacked (like #2) I'll bet that would have worked better.

The jacket in #3 is a L, I usually wear a M in looser fabrications and a L in tighter, This one has been very nearly purged several times because, like you said, it's just a bit big and heavy for almost everything. If I had another option for a navy topper, it would be out - I'm on the hunt. :)

And thank you for the compliment on #4. Somehow I'm in a bit of shock that it works :) Thank you for explaining why!

Gosh the soft yellow is very nice with the blue. They are a great combo. I think 4 would be my favorite too!

You've gotten good feedback already, and Jayne has some great comments. I like #4 a lot --- proportions are very pleasing. #3 and #1 work, too, but don't have quite the interest of #4. I hear you about second guessing yourself. Don't hesitate to experiment! You've made some amazing style changes in a very short period of time!

Loving #4! One of your best.

Love #4 as well. One more point of interest about it is that your bare arms add a nice touch and kick up the springtime quotient, so good job on the sleeve scrunch. FAB!

Love #4. Looks great on you!

The yellow with the blue is a perfect breath of spring!! Gorgeous colour combo.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Yellow and blue look wonderful on you!

I can't see the linked inspiration, but just want to say, #2-3 looks cute to me. I really like the rolled jeans, loafers on bare feet look and it looks great on you. I also can't wait til the weather warms up and I can put on lighter, barer looks.
