WIW: Celebrations edition (with skinnies formulae)

I'm sure it's no surprise to you that most of my celebrations are casual.  but here's what I've worn to various celebrations the past week (or since I last posted...)

#1 Worn to Christmas Eve celebrations - it doesn't show in the pic, but the underlayer is quite sparkly - this was my version of the sparkly tank (but with a sparkly cardigan all buttoned up, since I don't have a sparkly tank).  I liked it.

#2 Worn Christmas Eve during the day - I never did put shoes on with this, but I liked the outfit anyway.

#3-4 Angies formula from this morning - worn yesterday.  I liked this one too.

#5-6 Deborah-inspired drapey tank under a drapey cardigan with a narrow skirt.  I felt like it added lots of visual pounds, but I did like the draping.

#7-8 worn Christmas morning.  (Started in boots, changed to red plaid cons), to open gifts and the like.

#9 A attempt at skinny jeans with chunky knit - cobalt and sage.  The sweater, though, was too big (it's my hubby's), and I felt a bit swimming in it all day.  I did like the color combo though.

What do you think?  What should be improved here?

Hope you all had really special Christmases!

These are terrific looks!  I especially like #8.

You look fabulous in all of these! Great color and proportion. I love #5 and 6 -- long, lean, elegant.

1 is super! Hope you had a great Christmas!

I agree with Grey Rainbow about #5-6. What visual pounds? Of course I love the green pants and the cobalt cords, but your neutrals-with-shine of #1 is great, too.

Especially loving 1, 8 and 9! You have such a gorgeous complexion Amiable!!

I love #1 as well, but they all look wonderful.

I think you look gorgeous in all :) I really like #1, #5(nice to change it up) and #8....love the green and black and very cute little boots :)

Love all of these and a special nod to the green skinnies. Your lovely smile is a knockout!

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

They all look great but you nailed it with pic 1 IMHO! You look so pretty!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Amy, you look SO pretty in #1. I hope you had a terrific time -- this outfit deserved it! I love the edgy elegance of #5 as well -- and see no visual pounds.

Your other outfits are your fun tomboy best. Hope you had a good time with your little ones and ate some of your preserves.

These are all great, but #1 and #8 are my favorites. You rock those skinny green jeans!

  • Meli replied 10 years ago

    I'm a big fan of #1. Beautiful :)

Suggestions for improvement- i think the pants are too baggy/ not fitted enough in #3 and vest looks a bit small in # 2. The skirt outfit may be off because the longer skirt with booties truncates the leg line. The grey and black sweaters are very nice too :)

overall very cute casual vibe :) i enjoy the relaxed vibe and you are adorable!

I like #1 best - the cardigan looks fabulous and was an excellent interpretation of the formula.  5/6 is my runner up.  I'm not seeing any visual pounds, just a fab drapey ensemble.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas!

Nice outfits! 1 is my fave - everything looks so perfectly right and so you!

  • Vildy replied 10 years ago

5 and 6 are my favorites, too.

  • E replied 10 years ago

Oh #1 is so wonderful: that cardigan fits you perfectly! I love 5 too & don't see it adding pounds. You look so cute in all your colourful skinnies too & the action shot is lots of fun. :)

Put me in the 1&8 group as my faves.  Love both of these.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

#1 is my favorite, followed by 8. Thank you for sharing your great festive looks.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Oh Amy, #1 is stunning and you look gorgeous! #5 is runner up. I live this combo (surprise surprise) and I find it very slimming and attractive. That's a great tank. Great set of outfits. You do casual really well.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

My favs are #1, #7 & #8. The sparkly tank is fantastic, and so are the plaid cons. I like the way the boots and top bookend in #8. Looks like you had a busy but fun Christmas!

You look amazing, Amy!  I love the energy and refinement of these casual looks.  You look "life on the Prairie" accessible, at the same time you look really modern and updated.

As for hubby's sweater -- I think the issue is that a lot of guy's sweaters will have a dropped shoulder line and a big sleeve -- I think a slender sleeve with the same drape in the torso would work better.

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

I love #1!!! Sparkly tank or not it's a good look on you.
I love the plaid cons in 7! The booties look great in 5-6 (and your little guy too)
I agree with BethAnn on the husband sweater - it's also too thick to drape, but I like the color combination as well.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

#1 is one of your best ever! I love #5 too. I think it makes your chest look bigger if I may be so blunt, but most people don't think that's a bad thing :-)!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Thanks for all the comments - #1 was one of my personal favorites too.

And Shevia thanks for pointing that out with #5 - I really did feel fat in it all day (every time I caught my reflection).  And I think you might have pinpointed what in is was making me feel that way - I'm not used to bust-enhancers :)

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

Late to the reply but #1 is fantastic on you!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Amy, your hair is growing into a great style. Fabulous.

I'm also thrilled to see you sport those cobalt cords. They were made for you. You are glam in #5. Wow. Lucky hubs. xo
