WIW: Crazy pants

I took a sanity day off yesterday, and met up with WordLily (Hannah) to hit several GoodWill stores.

We had a blast, and completely forgot to take a picture to prove to you all that we were together.

When I saw these trousers, I pointed them out to her, telling her that her husband would approve.  We agreed that I should really try them on. The rest may as well be history.  They came home with me, and I had to wear them right away.

I've decided that they're "retro futurism", and thus fit with current trends. We had a lot of laughs about how if I paired these with anything other than solid black (or maybe white), it would go gaudy so very quickly.  We also agreed that these don't exactly make one's hips and thighs look smaller.  I'm fine with that.

My kids said "Wow Mom, those pants are sooo cool!", and "I wish I had pants like that".

So what do you think - should  I wear these out of the house?  I have to admit, the happiness factor is pretty high :)

HAHA Those are awesome crazy pants.

Awesome pants! I would so wear them.

It's really interesting how the orange is so much less of a player, less intense, than it appeared last night. And yes, I still love the pants, and you should definitely wear them out of the house. :)

Those are pretty amazing. What's the brand? Must be a very adventurous one...

  • viva replied 8 years ago

Definitely made me smile! I think they're fun.

Love!  Definitely wear them out of the house.  What a waste of amazingness if you don't.

I think they sit on your hips and thighs perfectly and don't seem to add any width there at all!

  • amiable replied 8 years ago

I agree - they're not adding width to my hips and thighs, but they definitely make them a prominent feature of my body :)

Well, they fit great and are certainly interesting.  I think whether you wear them out of the house depends on your comfort level.  I prefer to somewhat blend in so wouldn't be comfortable in them.

Chiming back in to agree with you.  If you pair them with pretty much anything but a black top and shoes, you're crossing over into crazy LADY territory.  But by pairing with black you are letting the pants do the talking :)

Party pants for sure!  I'd try them with a black asymmetrical top rather than the button-down shirt.

I would wear these everywhere! I love this kind of mod-retro pattern. Lucky!

Pucci-esque! Love them! I would try them with a white top - or pink!

  • Nebraskim replied 8 years ago

I think those are awesome! You look so cute in them. I think they would look super cute with a fitted black t-shirt, too. A great, fun find. And no doubt, at a great price. Everyone needs a little whimsey.

I love them ! The first thing I thought was ooh Pucci print awsome. They will definately be head turners. Don't worry about your hips and thighs, you ate tall and lean enough to pull this look off.

You know something - these are pretty cool!  I'd just change up the shoes and embrace the 60's ishness of them. You have absolutely the body type to wear these - so do it!

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

I like them.  I think simple stylings work, a tee, tank, shirt, and simple boots or even birkenstocks.  Wear with confidence, so much fun to wear something different!

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

Go bold or go home! You definitely have to wear them out.

Love them! Add pretty shoes and a hat --- and you'll get compliments everywhere you go!

I had to think about them for a couple of hours lol.  Amy I really like them:)  They are, as Shevia noted, very Pucci-esque.  I would love to see these with a ligher shoe (maybe an open toe shoe bootie) and a sleeveless loose turtleneck knit) :)

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

Fun Pucci pants. Absolutely wear them! I would like to see them with wedge or platform sandals and a sleeveless shortish top. I like Deborah's suggestion of a turtleneck knit. I think a dark brown or dark plum might work better than black.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Yes Brooklyn is right about the black, its almost a little 'jarring' something that flows with the colours of the pants would be good.

I love them - I always love bold fashion choices.  I think since you said the happiness factor is high, you have your answer about wearing them outside the house.

  • amiable replied 8 years ago

I did wear them out last night - just running errands.  They definitely got noticed, but no real stares - just long enough glances that I know people would know if I walked by them a second time.

I felt comfortable, and even fun, in them though.  They'll get worn again :)
