WIW for too much stress

I'm busting my backside at work, getting ready for next week in Toronto, so getting dressed has taken the definite back burner. (I even missed a couple of days taking WIW pics).

Here's what I've tossed on with little premeditation.

#1 Light-out - light gray boyfriend jeans with white (and silver sparkle striped) sweater.  I thought it worked in person, but in the pic, I feel like I need lower-contrast hair for it to work properly.  (Or a higher contrast outfit)

#2 green sweater and bf jeans.  I love these jeans so much.

#3 same sweater, this time with baby-boot cut (or maybe they're straight leg?) jeans.  I liked the bf jeans better with this sweater.

#4-5 skinnies with a fuschia sweater and a jacket.  Not sure this one worked.

All comments are welcome - I especially like to know what works and doesn't, so that I can keep improving.

I really like #1 - the stripes and fun shoes go great together.  Also really like #2.  I think the boots in #4 are perfect.  I can't tell about the jacket though without a side view.  I just don't have a good eye for them in photos - it's much easier in real life with a 3D view.

I really like your second and third outfits!

Sorry the stress levels are so high. It seems to be going around. I love #2!!

    Here's my 2 cents:
    Love # 1
I think # 2 needs a roomier top, pants are great.
    Love # 3
In 4 and 5 I find the neckline too high on the top, it would probably be fine on it's own but it's a bit much with the jacket.
    Your hair is looking great!

But even with no premedition, you still look great - 1 and 2 are fab.

#2 is my favorite. I hope the stress calms down soon!

Love #2, and these look great for throwing them on!  For some reason the jacket in #4/5 looks better in 5 than 4.

    Good luck with the stress!

Love 3&4! Gotta love it when you have fabulous FFBOs.

You are doing a stellar job despite high stress levels. Hang in there. Loving #4, so to my eye it totally works.

Sorry you've got so much going on Amy - I hope things settle down for you soon.

I'm totally smitten with outfits 2 and 3. You look fantastic in green and I like the jeans and footwear choices.

Sorry about the stress -- hope it gets better soon.

I really love #1 and the green sweater is so pretty with both pairs of jeans. I like the last one too, but one thing I noticed is that the sweater seems to be a cable-knit, right? I wonder if that's making it feel kind of casual for the jacket.

#1 is my very favourite, but these are all great FFBOs.  Looking forward to the 29th! :)

#1  works just fine to me - maybe your eye just needs to adjust? If anything, a controlled pop of discrete color might pull it all together, something as simple as a bracelet or watch in say blue or green or red.

#2 - awesome jeans and sweater! YLF in green! How does that outfit look with jacket from 4-5 over it? Not that your daily demands require it, I am just curious.

#3 hard from the pic to see difference with these jeans, I think it's how you are standing differently. If baby boot cuts, I find they need a bit of heel. Do you agree? Wider boot cuts can work with Con's, but baby boot cuts not so much. I love baby boot cuts but they do seem to limit the shoe option. Which is probably why fashion trends gravitated towards skinnies/cuffed boyfriends.

#4-5 - I adore #5 with collar popped. Such a great blazer! Also I really love these jeans on you - relaxed skinny perfection.

You wear color so well, but I also like the gray out of 1. My favorite outfit of the group is 2...bright green and boyfriends, what's not to love? I'd also like to see your jacket in 4 with the green pullover.

All these look good to me. Good luck with your trip!

#1 - gorgeous - the soft colors are really pretty on you.
#2 - that shade of green is definitely one of your best colors!  This is a really great outfit - only thing I would change is to wear the BF jeans just a little bit lower on my hips so that they hung just a little bit more loosely
3# - I like heeled shoes with bootcut jeans - so, I agree with you that the BFs are working better than the bootcuts
#4 - this look is just a matter of preference.  For me, the neckline on the top doesn't work with the jacket - unless you pop the jacket collar like . . .
#5 - I think it works much better here!  Wish I could say why for sure - but I think it has something to do with the popped jacket collar framing your neck in a different way than when the collar is lying down flat.

    Have fun in Toronto!

Ugh, high stress is no fun. Hang in there. I like the BF jeans in #2 so much, can you tell me what brand/style those are-- I think I should try those.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

The cheery green looks great on you, and is a little nod to Spring!
Your sense of fit and proportion is so ingrained that even when you don't have time to fuss you look good!

Hope your work event goes well.  I know you have a great treat at the end of it!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Jenny H - they're super duper old Seven For All Mankind jeans - the distressing is naturally occuring and everything.  I know that's no help - sorry!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

These are great "toss-on" outfits. You look nicely pulled together. I love #2 too. Spring! St. Patrick's!

  • replied 10 years ago

I think they all work well with a minor exception for 3 where I feel the same as the others and would prefer a different shoe. Hang in there!

PS, my workload just doubled today argggh!

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

Love the sweater in 1 & 2 and the jeans in 3. I like the BF jeans but not with that sweater somehow the proportions look wrong. I think the red sweater has a too high neck which doesn't do you any favours.
