WIW: June Challenge, week 3

I felt like my outfits for week 1 and week 2 of this challenge were pretty successful, and I was tempted to just repeat those outfits.  But I also wanted some variety, and there's so many options in my closet.....

So this week, I added some variety.  And rather than being fun, most felt frumpy.  Oh well - lots to eliminate!  Here they are:

#1 wearing today - I reverted to my FFBO formula of a buttondown with jean shorts, and like this combo.  This outfit stays.

#2 same top with jeans.  The jeans are rumpled, and maybe too big? What do you think?

#3 tried to do a sporty new formula of a knit skirt and tee.  It felt frumpy.  I think both pieces will either go or get altered (perhaps shorten the skirt into a knee-length?)

#4 If I had steamed or ironed this shirt it might have worked here - it's just a button down with boyfriend jeans, and normally this formula works for me.  I like the boyfriend jeans, I'm not sure about the top.

#5 mesh sweater with jeans that need to either change shape or go.  They'll be added to my alterations basket.

#6 I actually liked this outfit - though I wonder if flares miht have been a better jeans choice.  Both of these pieces stay.

#7 outfit combo suggested to me, and while I like the color combo, it feels to texas-tuxedo to me.  All the pieces stay, but I don't think I'll wear them like this again.

What do you think?  Are my assessments accurate?

I LOVE #6 and #7. They are great! I also love the patterned top in #1 and#2. The pants in #2 can be hemmed, especially if you're going to wear them with flats and brogues. I actually like #3 a lot. It looks like you're comfortable and this is a great casual-stylish look in my opinion. I like the length....I'm not sure it'll look good shorter.

#1 is my favorite! Also love the color of the sweater in #5 on you. I think 7 would have been perfect, either without a jacket or with a white denim jacket. Another great week for you!

    1 is my favourite too!

I like #1, #6 and #7 and have some suggestions.

On #1, what if you rolled the shorts a bit higher? One or two more rolls up? I agree the pants in #2 need to be hemmed or turned into shorts.

#6 I'd roll the pants to just above the ankle bone. I may do this in one large roll or a couple smaller ones (I'd try both)

Have you tried the top in #1 with the skirt in #3? Seems like it might work together, maybe with a tuck or semi-tuck?

Ooh - a white jacket - I agree, would have been perfect.  I'll try that next time - Thanks Carter :)

Thanks also Maneera and Kate (so fun to see you again Kate ) :)

#1 and #6 are great. #6 would actually be fantastic with heels! And I quite like both skirt outfits, too.
Jeans in #2 look too big but it's hard to say without seeing the top.

Thanks Tex, for the suggestions!  I'll try them all out.

And Daria, the top of the pants fit great - but they are looser around the hips.  I'll play with the hem, and maybe cut them into shorts - I need a light pair of shorts, I think....

I agree with your assessment! 1 and 6 are best. I think that rolling some of the pants a bit more or adjusting the fit might make a big difference. It's the details that count.

#1 and #6 are great!  I think the jeans in #2 are too long as others have suggested.  I like the skirt length in #3 - I think it's the birks that make it look frumpy - something sleeker and more modern might help.  To be honest, I wouldn't wear #7 either - I'm very sensitive to the Texas tuxedo look living in the southwest.  It's actually really common to wear denim on denim around here but it's usually for practical purposes like ranchers.

Will the light jeans possibly work as flared crops? They might be lacking structure a bit for that though..

  • amiable replied 2 years ago

I'm not sure they would work as flared crops (nor am I sure that I'm brave enough to try that trend).  But I do think they'd work as shorts like in #1, and I'll probably try that out.  Thanks for the idea :)

1 and 6 are my favorites. I like the skirt too. As texstyle suggested, try it with the top in 1.
