WIW: meh

Not feeling as fab in these outfits as I did in my new green jeans a few days ago.  What should I do to improve them (as a reference for next time)?

#1 Felt okay, but not great

#2 I liked it this way, but the pants wouldn't stay up, so I had to add a belt (#3)
#3 with the belt - I think it makes the shirt line compete with the vest a bit?

#4 felt kinda frumpy - I'm guessing the length of the red vest and the length of the blue top is competing?  And I need to paint these shoes bright red, no?

I'm debating whether the white floral in #1, the denim vest and brown cowl neck sweater in #2 and #3, and the red vest in #4 should stay.  What do you think?

Feedback and suggestions invited!  Thanks you all!

I think #1 is funky and fun. You have some fun layering and good colors going on. I think the jacket might be a little on the boxy side so perhaps that is throwing the proportions off to you. I like it.  I prefer #3 over 2. I think the belt really pulls it together--small detail but a big difference. The red vest I'm not feeling. I think it's too voluminous. That's the only thing I'd probably cull. I think the oversized denim vests are on trend--it makes me think it should stay and try some other stylings.

Yes, I think #1 is very funky!! Loving that white floral. Yes yes yes on the belt. It looks unfinished without one. Maybe colored belt?

I think #1 the shirt is too short.  It is pretty but I am not sure about it for you.  I realise you are probably layering for warmth but I do think it would look better without the tee underneath:)

I like #2/3.  Great neckline.  If it were me, I would be inclined add a long pendant but it looks great.

#4 could work with the collar buttoned up and the cardigan open?

In terms of what to keep, I would say keep the denim vest and the cowl neck sweater, I think the other two are not quite good enough for you :)

I like 3, although I am not sold on that brown cowl neck. 1 I like the floral shirt but not with that jacket.

i love the colour of the red vest but I agree that the sleeves and where it fastens look bulky.

I like 2/3, especially with the belt.  For both #1 and #4, I would consider slimmer fitting tops underneath the volume.  For #1, I think it's the floral shirt that alters the look a little.  What if you just wore the t-shirt with the red jeans and the utility jacket (with funky belt)?  Also, in #4, I like the red vest, but I see it with less volume underneath, kind of like a turtleneck or long-sleeve t.  But that's just me! :)

#1 is fun, maybe a different shirt would look better under the olive one.  The olive and red look great together.  I like 2/3 belted or not.  Yes, for 4 I think the top under the red vest needs to be more fitted.  Still love those red and white jeans, you rock them!

I would totally keep the floral shirt. It has great potential and so does the denim vest. You have got some great tips above on how to work these. I would donate the red vest. It is bulky and frumpy.

Thanks for all the advice ladies!  I love how you're so generous with me (and everyone else), helping me learn :)

Agree the red and olive look great together in #1 but maybe you will like it better with a longer top. I like the outfit belted in #3 and think the vest (and white jeans) are great pieces for you. #4 has potential too. I am just not sure how the red top is supposed to work, so try everyone's suggestions and see what you like. The boots are a perfectly good color as they are imho!

I agree almost word for word with Krista - I really think some slimmer tops under the bulky/boxy toppers could change up the looks.  It's something to try anyway.  I really like outfit #3 with the belt.
