WIW: more crops

I'm still working through how to wear (or, whether to wear) crops.  Today is the first outing for a newly-cropped pair of too-short jeans that were too comfy to toss.

I think I got the length right, but I don't feel like they're at all flattering.  Is my eye just slow to adjust, or is there something else going on that I could fix and make them work better?

(The outfit is the same in all three photos - I'm trying to figure out lighting and camera angles for when it's too cold for outdoor photos - see me shivering in #1?)

    NICE. You are adorable.

I like the length on you. It does take a while to adjust to a new length but it does suit you.

I think when the weather warms up and you can show a bit of ankle to balance the light top, you might like them more.

Yes, I do think these will get a lot of wear with warmer weather.  I must be bored of winter clothing :)

They look great to me! And I liked your paisley pants you posted recently, too!

They look great - and a year ago I would have not liked this look. So, the eye does adapt! Maybe it is time for me to try this too.

I think they look good on you.  I have to admit though that I can't figure out cropped pants with boots on me.  I don't think I have quite the right pieces (I have plans to chop a pair of jeans) and I'm not sure my eye is adjusted to the look on me.  It's strange because I really like it on others.

I understand the struggle with cropped (flares). The jeans should also be able to work nicely in spring with ankle showing.

They look great. I like your boots with them too. Sometimes it takes awhile for the eye to adjust.

They look fantastic!  I think it takes a bit of time to adjust to the look of cropped.  They look store bought not altered!  Great job.

Angie has spoken. I just wanted to add how cute I think the top is.

I think they look good on you!

Length looks right and outfit is super!

I like them! I think it's just a matter of your eye adjusting.

I'm with everyone and think the crops look good!

But...maybe it's the top that is throwing off the look? I went back through some of your recent posts, and the outfits where you really shine (for me) have more structure on top, and lift your look "up." Specifically, maybe try that boatneck white striped top with the jean jacket and the little scarf (you wore the jacket and scarf with a brownish cable sweater). Or the long white blouse, or the dark blue/white windowpane plaid blouse. I think the owl top is cute but the scoop neck and beige color aren't flattering to your pretty face and stunning hair (and the glasses - I always love your specs).

Hope you don't mind, I know I don't post pics of myself so maybe have no right to critique here.

Thanks everyone - these crops will definitely be in regular rotation once it warms up.  Today I was mostly indoors, so they were fine, but my short jaunt outside - wow, it was cold.

Thanks especially for your suggestions binkie - That's why I do post, for the constructive suggestions for improvement.  I'll pull out some of those tops and give it a try - I did suspect the top was throwing off the look too (but the owl really wanted to be worn today :)  ).

I like them on you. On me, not a fan. I have stopped wearing pants as I do not like the cropped length on me.

  • binkle replied 7 years ago

Cool! When the owl calls, the owl calls !

I like the cropped length on me better in photos than in the mirror....  But the glimpses I caught of myself in various mirrors and windows weren't convincing.  I'll try narrow crops next probably....
