WIW: orphan day 8 - swashbuckling

Orphan challenge day 8 already.  (I had to go back and count - I'm surprised it's been more than a week already).

Today's orphan is this flowy cascade cardigan.  It very narrowly escaped the start-of-autumn purge, but I  think I really do like it.

When I paired it with these tall boots, I immediately saw the piratey potential, so last night to take the kids out trick-or-treating, I brought that out with a striped top, black scarf over my head, a single hoop and an eye patch. (pic #2)

What do you think?  Too piratey for everyday wear? How should this drapey cardi be styled?

I like the cardi...a flowy cardi is one of my favorite toppers...and it's black, so what's not to love?  Love the Halloween costume too!  I *wanna* be a pirate!

That cardi is a WIN. I cannot get enough of flowy black toppers, and they help me feel comfortable in a very bodycon dress/top/pants that I wouldn't wear with a fitted topper.

I love it! #2 is a great casual outfit, less the bandana and eyepatch.  I bet you could belt the cardi for a different look, too.

Love the pirate. I'm not sure about the cardi for normal wear.  I think that style is becoming somewhat dated.  Ceit recently wore one that was perfect http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ux-leather and Deborah http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....despicable wears them and always looks great. I still like them personally but I think they have enough drama that I would limit keep the other elements simple.

Love the cardi. Not so sure about the eye patch though!

I love drapey cardis, but I have yet to find one that works for me, so I am not sure how to style it.  Hopefully Deborah or some of the other very stylish arty fabbers will chime in!

I think the pirate outfit is fabulous and could be worn sans eye patch for a cool casual look.

I actually like it best with the striped shirt.  I think the horizontal lines of the shirt balance the drapey-ness of the sweater.

Love it!  You've inspired me, althoughI think I'll skip the eye patch!

You make an outstanding Pirate. xo

I think it is great without the eyepatch! I would wear that as-is.

I like your drapey cardi --- especially with the striped top (pirate or not). I say keep and play with it some more. I still have a couple of cascade cardigans and really enjoy wearing them over slim jeans and (like you have done here) with tall boots. It may not be super trendy, but it is a comfortable and pulled together look. There are times when a soft and flowy topper is a welcome change from a more structured jacket. It is good to have options.

I like to wear mine over a dress, usually a sheath or something more fitted.  Or jeans.  Love the piratical look!
