WIW: pastel explosion

I hadn't really intended this outfit to be so full of pastels.  I wanted to wear the mesh sweater, and thought that it would look great with faded, pale jeans.  I think I should have gone with white rather than just pale (next time....).

As it is, I'm hoping that adding in black accents can keep it from being too OTT pastel, and planning to try it with my white bootcuts next week, and maybe with black some other week too....

Other suggestions for improvement?

(Bonus shot of chicken photobomber, before I'd put on glasses)

I don't think it looks too pastel... denim is denim after all :).  Plus the tones all harmonize nicely.  I do like the "grounding" with black.

    LOL on the chicken.

Pastel & Mid-Tone. Those items look great together, Amy. I'm glad you kept the pullover. Look forward to seeing you pair the pullover with white next.

You look great!  I like the light denim and pink together.  The black belt and shoes are a little unexpected and give the outfit a slight edge.

Love this! And the color of that pullover is absolutely divine on you :)

I do not read this as too pastel. I do read this as " my goodness she looks very lean and sleek here." Your hard work is showing.

Thanks Kim!  (shopping is fun when it's for new, smaller, sizes - making me see that despite it feeling like it's slogging on so slowly, I'm making progress.  These are new-to-me jeans in a size quite a lot smaller that I've worn in recent history - and they're a bit big.  But they're also gap, which I know runs pretty big).

Joining the chorus of approval on the colour combo. You look great! And this is the first time I've ever seen a chicken photo bomber. Excellent all round!

The combination looks great, and nice original touch with the chicken!

Love the top and want to see it w white. Did you cut your hair? Looks really good here. Lol on the chicken.

No hair cut - just another day out from washing has it less straight.  Thanks!  :)

It is fun to shop when your size has changed in the direction you want. I still find myself automatically reaching for bigger sizes, then having to size down. I recently tried on jeans in "my" size but thought they looked crappy. On a whim, I sized down and was shocked by the improvement in the fit and look. It made me rethink much of my wardrobe and my too-big clothing.

Congrats on shopping for smaller sizes!  I think the pants are a wee bit too big, but you look so TALL in them!

What Una said. The first thought was how tall you look. Pastel looks like spring. In April don't worry about overdoing it, but the top looks more light red than pink on my monitor. Usually I'd think that black would be too harsh, but the length of your jeans helps. How about using brown belt and shoes instead? Your hair looks great.
