WIW: pink in process (eta: process continues)

I knew that I wanted to wear pink today (after yesterday's blog post, and the "blush goes with everything" post from a week or two ago.  And I knew that I wanted to try it with my tomato red skinny jeans.

I didn't realize how complicated it was going to be.

Here's my attempts so far:

#1 bubblegum pink sweater, red jeans, black boots and jacket, white belt, plaid scarf.  Maybe ALGO.  Hmm.. And maybe I should try a black belt?

#2 blush tee, everything else the same as #1.  I think the pink looks better on me than the blush, but I'm not sure.  What do you think?

#3 Just the pink and red - red plaid cons for sass, but it clearly needs something else (especially with the neckline of my undershirt peeking out).

#4 So I added the scarf.  I think this one is okay, but not great.

#5 I felt like the proportions were off on the ones with the red plaid shoes in this one - not enough bottom weight - that's why I changed to the big heavy eyelet boots.

#6 (added) White, pink and red - only pattern in the shoes.

#7 (added) traded the white undershirt and belt for black undershirt and belt to make a little less going on.

Now:  Do any of these work?  Or even sorta work?  I need layers today - it's chilly.  But I'm just not convinced that this whole idea is working.

I actually like all of them!  Number 4 being my favorite.  Number 1 works well too.  Could you try number 5 with a white cardigan/jacket?

Another beautiful gal in pink. I love that you have combined it with your red jeans. The plaid scarf is a nice accent. Wow -- those black lace up boots are fabulous! Like all the looks, but #1 is my fave...just can't get over the awsomeness of the boots.

You are fearless in the face of colour!  What about 2 with a long, neutral necklace or black and white printed scarf?  To my eye the colour blocking is sort of mod and doesn't quite go with the outdoorsy plaid.

well I actually like #3 best, for casual MOTG. The white undershirt works colour-wise with the belt and cons. The other ones are a bit ALGO-not-coming-together for me, they are fine really just not quite loving them. But I like the simple look.

Here's a couple more tries - thanks for suggestions!

I decided to try a couple ways of minimizing a bit, while maintaining enough layers for warmth.

Neel, I do have a white jacket, and will try it in a little while (and post more pics).

Emily and Jules - you made me realize that with this much going on color-wise, I probably don't need pattern in the mix too.  Thanks!

And Thanks ElCee - I like these boots too, and scarves keep my neck warm, so I try to wear them as often as possible in winter :)

Well, I think they are all terrific, with 3 and 5 being my favourites. The plaid shoes are a brilliantly fun touch!

i like #1 (of the 1st set) best. love the pink and red together. very 80's.
for some reason, i find the black belt distracting- i know that it works with the boots and the jacket, but i think it cuts the look in half.

    #6 all the way

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Number 6 is just perfect!  I think this might be better than the white jacket version.  Classy cool.

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

    I like 6 a lot, too!

#3 and #6 are my favourites. Thank you for posting this-Angie's blog post on blush-with-everything has really stuck in my head and it's very helpful to see it working so well in real life.

7 is my favorite. Oh those boots!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Number 6 is my favorite, followed by #1. And I have no idea why. Proportions and balance of color maybe?

I vote killer all round. Seeing your outfits made me smile, Amy. I love that shade of pink matched with bright red - and the way you added in the white is sublime. Thanks for wearing pink. xo

#3 and #6! Pink is great on you - and I love wearing it with red too. I do want the shirttails a little longer in #6 but that is pretty minor.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

#3 and #6 are my favorites!  Pink and red is vivacious, but unexpected.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Omg. #1 and #6 are on fire!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

I think they all work and #1 is my favourite. Fabulous colours on you:)

Thanks for all the kind words!  I ended up too cold without the scarf, and liking the white belt best - So I spent the majority of the day in #1 (even taking my middle son out on a date to Walmart and McDonalds for ice cream)
