WIW: Plugged holes

July is over, and my summer wardrobe is serving me well.   I started the month with a few wardrobe holes, and last week (I think?), I spent a day goodwilling with a couple of friends with these holes in mind.  I'm pleased to say that I think I plugged them.  I even found a few nice surprieses :)

My wardrobe holes were:
- casual skirt
- casual summer dress (for when it's too hot to wear clothes)
- casual summer top
- replacement jean shorts in a light wash
- olive bottoms

I found them all, and will take pics as I wear them to show you (that's my August challenge).

Here's the couple that I've worn so far.
#1 - Olive bottoms and casual skirt, check.  And I got to try out the olive with cobalt ensemble (and I loved it).  This may be my new favorite summer outfit.  (Posing with my daughter after her gymnastics class).

#2 Another casual skirt (this one with built in shorts, which I love), and a stripey tee that I picked up with it.

#3 A fun tube skirt that came home with me. (#4 shows it with the addition of a white jean jacket that also found it's way home with me, but that didn't really go well with this outfit).

#5 replacement jean shorts.  Are they too long?  They replace the shorts in #6, which have become painting shorts.

And, you can see in each photo my new fitbit.  Sigh.  I love the data, and it's on my project list to de-uglify it. For right now, it's just an ugly non-accessory.

Oh, and #7, the top that got away.  I tried it on and loved it, but my friend hated it.  I almost got it anyway but decided that it wasn't a need and that my impressions of it might be off.  Both friends loved the top in #2, so I got it instead. but as I edit my pics, I'm kinda wishing I'd gotten the top in #7, or maybe both, instead.  Oh well :)  The fish that got away was always the best one, right?  :)

Anything I should change or ditch?

Amiable, your new summer finds are so awesome! You're absolutely gorgeous in 2,3&4. I love both those tops!!!! The skort and stripey tee in 2 look just so so summery! You've inspired an outfit idea in my head too! :) The drapey berry top and printed tube skirt in 3 is simply stunning....you look extremely pretty in that outfit

I would call your bottoms in 5 capris and not shorts. I think you should keep them if this length is more practical for your lifestyle that involves running behind kids, but I also suggest you look for a pair of shorter shorts for really warm days because you've got really really great legs! Probably linen or cotton shorts in black or brown? If you already have such a pair, you're sorted!

3 and 6 are phenomenal! Two of my faves on you ever! You look so tall and leggy and the proportions are perfect.

I love #2 - simple and easy yet also polished and pretty. Tube skirt is great too. I agree with Maneera that the new shorts are more like capris.

Love #3! My favorite but the others all look great too. I think the shorts look good like that, but I prefer long shorts.

OMG Amy, the silhouette and proportions in #3 and #7 are outstanding on you.  I would suggest you study them and use the fits as a guide because you look amazing in both.

I like the casual skirt and those short/skort bottoms are perfect for errands and hanging out in summer.  The denim shorts in #5/6 work well.  I find BF shorts and pants to not be uber flattering but the ones in #6 really work for you.  I think I would prefer #5 with less fringy ends on the legs.  The shorts in #7 are fab too and are a dressier denim short.

You found some great pieces Amy.

Great haul! Personally, I would shorten the denim cutoffs, but that would be an easy fix for you.

#2, 3 and 5 are my favourites. You scored nice items from the goodwill. How fun to go shopping with friends. Sometimes they see what your eyes can't see. I like the length of #5 as it is.

#2 and #3 are my favorites! #2 probably wins it all though:-)

You are looking fabulous Amy! You came home with some great pieces. I particularly love 3,4,5. I actually like your new shorts the length they are now... I really like the proportions.

Such a comfort to me that you all like #2 - It felt good wearing it (except that I got sunburnt, even with 30spf), but when I saw the pic, I thought it looked too preppy for me :)

And I'll have to see if those jean shorts in #6 have survived being painting shorts.  If so, I'll put them back in rotation and have two very different light wash jean shorts.

    Thanks!

Like everyone, you look great in the cobalt and olive! And I'm glad you found some casual summer skirts!

#3: You look Ah.May.Zing. I'm sighing because you look so spectacular, because you've nailed everything here.

#5: I'd shorten them, to maybe right above the knee, I think is traditional bermuda length? And that's how you've had the others I've seen this summer.

#7: I do think that's a nice top that got away, but it's hard for me to say for sure, because the pic isn't nearly as nice as all your other well-lit, composed-outfit, photos. :)

Amy, you are GLOWING!! Love these photos. And these are some of your best outfits ever. I just adore 2, 3, and 4. K-worthy, all!!

#2 doesn't look preppy to me. I see modern classic. It's perfect for a hot summer day.
