WIW: quiet shirt, loud shoes

I love Friday’s formula - and immediately wanted to wear it. Today was my opportunity. I opted for a classic but not really all that big white shirt with jeans and a colorful scarf. But then these shoes were begging to be let into the outfit and I had to comply. They’re silver vinyl patent Oxfords - I saw a teenager wearing then a few weeks ago, complimented him, and he said “actually, they’re getting too small and hurt my feet. Want them?” So I bought them from him for $10. I can’t say they’re very comfy, but they are attention grabbing!

Two things I noted in wearing this: First, I want a bigger solid colored shirt. But I want a good shoulder fit so that it’s intentionally large, not too big for me looking. Second: I’m over this shape of jeans - bootcut. I wore them because they were my clean pair, but they feel and look outdated for my style to me. I’m more in to straight leg and would really like to try a balloon leg jean. I’ll start watching for both!

I do think bootcuts are coming back in, but you should wear what feels good to you of course! Shoes and story are great, top looks good, I think I would try wrapping the scarf around because it drags you down a bit. Nonetheless, you look fab!

Nice!  I would say that your scarf is louder than your shoes.  :)
I'm always drawn to metallic footwear.  Was this a random teenager or one you personally knew?  I'm imagining a random teenager walking home without shoes.  :)

You look fantastic. The scarf completes the outfit well. But gosh wouldn’t have recognised you - the long hair is great.

What a great story and I’m wondering about the barefoot teen wandering home :)
A new jean style is fun and a great way to change things up. These boot cuts look amazing on you so I recommend keeping even if they go into holding for a bit.

The teen is one I know - I bought them at church.  Randomly, he had a pair of flip flops in his backpack, so when I bought the shoes off his feet, he put the flip flops on and went on his way.

He (and his mother) both laughed (in a delighted way) when I showed up to church in them yesterday.

You look terrific! I actually love these jeans on you - do you think you'd like them better cuffed or hacked? The bootcut isn't overly wide; to my eye they almost pass as slim-straight ... just a thought!

HAH :) .....leave no retail stone unturned.....

Looking fab! GREAT jeans and oxfords.

    Scarf mimics cute rainbow hair.

Scarf is so pretty, but yes to wrapping it! Or fold it in half and tuck the ends through the loop.

Great story! Always a fan of bootcuts but I understand needing a change.

I like the boot cuts on you!

Your shoes do not look loud to me, but I have adjusted to the look of shiny silver shoes.. You will adjust to the look in time if you wear the shoes. They balance the loudness of the optic white shirt.

I love bootcuts but always found them tricky as far as shoes are concerned.  Your bootcut is not so pronounced/flared so they do work with the oxfords.  I think you will find those oxfords very versatile.  I can see them working well with different coloured trousers and skirts too.
