WIW: rainbow socks

Today for Pink Floyd, it seemed obvious to me to wear black, with a little gray and a bright rainbow of color somewhere as an accent.  So I wore black sweater and gray jeans.

I originally thought that a bright belt might be perfect, but couldn't make it work.  So, after realizing that I was likely to spend all day at home in socks anyway, I decided to just wear bright socks and enjoy them.  It didn't work. It feels dreary and drab and a little depressing.  Could just be the day outside, (and my kids attitudes...) but the socks aren't enough cheer for me today.

So now I've added boots.  They take away the flash of color, but add a little bit of sass and spunk that I was missing.  So now I'm pretty devoid of color, but my happiness level has risen a little.  Can't win them all, right?

Please make suggestions - I know this outfit isn't really so great, but I'm not sure how to improve it.  (And again,  it might just be the drab day and my bad attitude, not the outfit.  I don't know :) )

    Hi Amy,

It's all about the happiness!  I think you look great!  I love your socks but it's also OK for socks to be a secret.  Those boots can do no wrong!

    Hope your day gets better!

I think you look great too. In fact, I just came from an outfit creation session with a client and we put together a very similar outfit - with the boots.

How about a non-black pair of boots?

I definitlt agree with you - the boots do add a bit of sass. But sometimes we want to be more comfortable rather than  sassy so the other look is good too.

Great boots! I often wear fun, bright and soft socks with my boots. No one can see them but they feel good and make me happy.

Oh dear Amy! You look terrific! Your burgundy boots would be awesome with this! Not that the lace ups are not good! But just to add a splash of color and brighten your day (too late I know! I missed this post). And your colorful pendant necklace from previous day would be perfect for the rainbow! Although it might be a challenge with the neckline of the top.

I know how you feel about the kids! I spend about 15 hours alone with them everyday. And I have only 2!! But at least now I know why some animals eat their young ones. :D

I like it. You could do some color in an accessory if you want or some silver. Love your photobomber too.

I think the socks are fun and cute, but the outfit with the boots definitely has more sass.  I think you look great so maybe it's just your attitude - or maybe you need more color to feel good in your outfits?

Amy, those boots are the bomb!  And your l o n g legs steal the show here!  True rocker style, which certainly fits a Pink Floyd challenge!

Maybe your kids were taking their inspiration from Pink Floyd, too?  "Hey, teacher!  Leave those kids alone!"

Yesterday, my kids spent the first part of their school day in time out on their beds.  Fortunately, I was gone and Dad was on duty.  We all have those days!

Clompy boots in the face of a difficult day?   Best choice ever!

Thanks Beth Ann (and others)  - I think yesterday was just an off day - nothing to do with my outfit :)
