WIW: Red and shiny

Angie was right - I'm wearing more red in my feeling festive.  Two of the last three days I've worn it, and even though the pics aren't that great, I figured I'd share.

Also, I'm trying out today some shoes that I bought last summer and were a bronzy-brown.  I finally decided that I would like them better and wear them more if they were dark silver, and bought some Tarrago leather dye.  They turned out brighter than I anticipated, but I think I like them.  (Though I may try tonight them down with some black polish...)

I love the boots!  Of course I have a similar pair and don't consider them OTT at all. :)

I like the boots silver. Don't tone them down!

Holiday red!  Yeah!  I'm wearing some right now myself!

Was #2 for church?  I like the skirt's abstract print.  Do you wear it often?  I think it would work nicely with some of your shorter sweaters.  Like the pendant for a bit of holiday bling.

The silver shoes are a fab bit of tinsel for the holidays.  I like them as is, but I could see them given a bit of RATE finish for a burnished effect.

You wear plaid so very well --- it suits your tomgirl style. What about buttoning the top button and scrunching the sleeves up to the elbow for a bit of a retro look?

    Love the silver!

You should know you seriously look fabulous in red, really :-)
Shoes are wicked, great for some quiet bling in the season too

I really like the sweater with the skirt or the sweater plus jeans plus brilliant silver shoes. Dying them to be a colour you like is a great idea. The metallic silver is really catchy and in my humble opinion, they are wicked cool! If it was me, I would keep the brilliant silver for sure :)

Oh, these are all great outfits. Red is fantastic for you--this dark cool red.
I'm comparing it mentally to that light blue sweater--no contest. So that really makes me think your blues should be deeper blues with your coloring.

WOW. Love the silver boots in #1. Great look on you. xo

Oo, I like your silver shoes, at least on my screen. Statement shoes! You're the one who wears them, though, and if you feel they're too bright, I'd urge you to go slowly with darkening them. Add just a little black and see what it looks like.

Burgundy is your color, for sure! I like your color blocked sweater in the first pic, also.

Thanks all!  The boots have taken a bit of getting used to (I was hoping for something more pewter than silver).  But I do think I like them bright like this.  At least for now :)  And it's whetted my appetite for dyeing shoes.  I may do this more than once.

And I do love a good dark red.  I was afraid they'd compete with my glasses for a while (they are also dark red), but I don't think it's too much.

I like your festive outfits, Amy. Dark red is a great color on you, and I love how you've paired it with black and white for both dressed-up and casual wear.

Oh, and BethAnn - yes, I wore #2 for church, and the black/white "skirt" is really a dress. This was it's first wearing, but I suspect it'll get more wear.  It fits me really well - I just have to figure out how to style it :)

3 is my favorite - plaid and dark red are on trend but everything is very practical and you. I like the silver boots. I bought a pair of silver oxfords this fall and have found them surprisingly versatile, even though I too sometimes feel self conscious with the shininess.

You look fantastic in that rich, dark red Amy - I really like outfit #2 in particular. The silhouette and proportions are fab. And the silver booties are TDF!

Great outfits, I especially like #1. I wouldn't try toning the silver down, I like it as is.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Wow! The silver is amazing!! Don't tone it down :)

I love the silver shoes!  They came out great.  I really like them with the black and white colorblocked top.  They might look good with the plaid outfit in #3 too.
