WIW: Summer activities

This past week has been a flurry of activity.  Here's what I wore for some of the activities (I think I missed pics one day - but believe me, it was nothing special).

#1-2 to church.  This is a new-to-me skirt, and I'm quite enamored with it. (I"m calling it the Mondrian skirt - is the pic big enough for you to see the pattern?). I paired it with a top from Kristin - (she was so nice to send it to me back when I was quite new to the forum, and until now, it's always been layered under something.  This time it came out to play on it's own.  Thank you Kristin!  This top gets lots of wear!).  It was chilly in the morning, so my jacket from Kate (Ceit) also came out to play. It was a YLF love outfit!

#3 To a park play-date.  I bought the stripes last week, thinking it would replace my other black-white striped top that's bugging me.  But it's short.  Waa!

#4-5 Worn to the pool.  Over my swimsuit.  I kept the dress (and jacket!) on when I wasn't in the water, and managed to NOT BURN!

#6 Worn to take my daughter out for ice cream. A take on Angie's khaki/white with red accents casual formula.  Here it's olive capris, a white tank top, red ballet flats and a hot pink jacket.  Somehow, I don't think it worked very well, but oh well.

#7 Worn to pick cherries.  They're ripe, and while it's a small harvest, we still have a great time picking.  And the pie is so yummy!

#8 Worn on a date with my husband.  Both the cobalt capris and the turquoise plaid are new to me.  And I think I like them.

What do you think?  Suggestions for improvement?

    Hi Ami!

I adore #1.  What a terrific skirt, and the proportions are great overall.

Next favorite is your "pool coverup."  Who was guessed that lopping off the sleeves would work so well?

The turquoise and cobalt are a great pairing!  Another great outfit!

I'd like to seee #6 with a woven topper -- perhaps a denim jacket?  Keep the red shoes and necklace!

Something about the proportions of the jacket in #3 seems less than optimal to me.  I wish it were either shorter, or the sleeves were longer.  I think the military style is great for your lifestyle, though.   If the top is too short, I can't tell it by your styling!

    Happy Summer!

Love your church outfit in both versions! I would happy lift that whole outfit off of you and wear it! As for #6, I'd have to see in person how the pink/red thing works, but it looks quite promising to me!

What a fab skirt, Ami! It is so fresh and fun!  No wonder you are enjoying it.

I love the lopped-sleeve dress, too. It is so much better this way. Great save and it sounds as if it is also very useful to you!

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Wow, taking the sleeves off your dress really did change the feel for the better! I LOVE 1 and 2.

Yay for lopped dress, and the skirt outfit is fab :)

I picked cherries today too -- this is the first year in the 4 years since I planted it that my sweet cherry has set fruit! I have room for one more tree in my yard and I think I will put in another cherry!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Yum!  My sweet cherry has never born very well (but it's still young, so I have hope).  The cherries we're getting now are the sours.  A bit tart to eat plain, but terrific as pie or jam.  We had a late freeze, so I'm thankful that we got any!  Yours look positively scrumptious, Kate!

  • replied 10 years ago

Yeah my sour trees are just producing now, I'll probably have to pick in the next day or two. This is the first year for them also!

You all are making me so hungry for fresh cherries! Amy, 1/2 is your best yet to me. Everything looks like it fits you well and looks great together. The colors and white belt make for a crisp summer look in #8. You worked a marvel removing the sleeves from #4.

Your church outfit is fab! You have really nice legs :)

The skirt is great on you - perfect length and shape. I also like the dress and your date night outfit is terrific!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love the skirt! All your outfits are fab and perfect for the occasions that you wore them.

Some great looks. 1 and 2  are fab!.
In 3, I agree with Beth Ann; not sure about the proportions of the jacket.
I'm glad you yook the sleeves from the dress in 4 and 5, as it works well now. Of the last three my favourite is 6 as I love the red!

I love #1, #4 and #6. The coverup looks great and I like the red and olive together. I don't see anything wrong with that outfit and especially like the pointy necklace.

You are on such a roll! #1 is perfection, #3 & 6 are dashing, but #4 has got personality. You know #4 is my fave :)

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I love 1/2, especially that white jacket!!

  • missvee replied 10 years ago

Like the others I'd say 1 and 2 are perfection. You wear crisp graphic prints very well. Love 4 as well - great call to remove the sleeves.

I'm having trouble getting past outfit #1 - sooooooo gorgeous on you! Love that skirt. And WOW your dress without the sleeves looks fantastic.

  • celia replied 10 years ago

I am sorry but after seeing 1/2 I became impared to look at the rest. This must be one of outfits I loved more so far on you. Gorgeous!

  • replied 10 years ago

OMG Miss Ami! That first outfit has me gasping for breath! I love the silhouette of the pencil skirt and that fab jacket on you. And my heart is warmed by the fact that they came from Kristin and Ceit. We have the best YLF family ever. :D
