WIW: sweet and sour (and stars)

Today I wanted to wear blush with lime green, as suggested in this post.  Such a springy combination.

It sort of worked for me, but I'm not sold on it.  It seemed a little too sweet just as-is, so I tossed on a black leather jacket when I went out.  (And ended up cold - it's not shorts weather for me yet).

What do you think?  How should it be improved?

Bonus: a team wear moment - I wore my newly-purchased star shirt (It's sheer navy with white stars.  I wore a tank underneath) with white jeans and a white pleather jacket yesterday (and lime shoes, for fun).  I liked it a lot, but should have worn a belt as the jeans kept creeping down, then the shirt coming untucked....

I really like the version with the black cons and jacket, nice!

I think the darker colors ground the pastels, but the pastels work well with your complexion so it all fits.

(The only thing I might do is iron the shirt tails, but I realize that they are probably gonna do this anyway after five minutes if the shirt is linen ;) ).

Blush with lime green? What a great idea!! It totally works! I find the black jacket a bit heavy with the light colours & shorts, but you've mitigated it with the dark shoes. Maybe would better with that white jacket! WTG team wear! Looks great!!

Good point rabbit - I'm so used to being rumpled looking that I didn't even notice.  (But yes, the shirt is linen, and I'm guessing it's going to be rumpled looking no matter what)

And I agree, the black is a bit heavy for it.

really like the white jeans with the navy blouse and the Lime shoes!! -

I agree with rabbit on #2.  Without the black to ground it, something about the saturation(?) levels of the blush vs lime green is off to my eye -- I think the lime green would need to be paler to work really well with that top.

I wonder how it would work with only the black sneakers and not the jacket? Do you think your hair is dark enough to bookend the dark shoes? Also, what about gray or white bottoms with the blush top - and your green loafers?

Try it without the jacket and with the black cons - I like those shorts!

Yes, what are those lime green shorts? I like the blush and lime here but my favorite outfit is #4.

Hey Amy! Echoing some of these suggestions - black leather jacket a little heavy - how does the white jacket look? I like the lime and peach pairing -  so fresh especially paired with the cons. Love the outfit in pic 4!

Those green shorts are really cool! I am pretty taken with them. I am not sure whether the blush works with them, but I don't know if it is a saturation thing or a photo-only thing -- sometimes colours just reproduce weirdly and it's hard to get a good read on them. And I think maybe it happens more often when they are similar in value.

Love outfit 2, but hear you on the belt. I know that "creepy" feeling and it kind of spoils the fun of an outfit when you're dealing with that.

I'm not sold on the first outfit but not sure why however the second outfit with the new star top is divine,

I wonder what the green shorts would look like with the lime green shoes from the second outfit and the white jacket rather than the black - I feel the black us too heavy. I'm wondering if the colour combo isn't singing as the blush and green aren't as bright as those from the inspiration photo.

Gorgeous!  I just love #1!  I feel like you have the look nailed perfectly.

How about trying a denim jacket with #1?  That might toughen it up without the heaviness?  Fun color combo that suits your complexion nicely.  Sometimes the weather plays a part in how appropriate I feel in a particular outfit. You might feel differently about the color combo on a warm sunny day.

Love the new stars top outfit - the lime green shoes make it pop!

2, 3, and 4 winning.  The dark jacket is a compliment to the light colors I actually said oh out loud when I saw pic 2.

I like #1 as is, doesn't read as terribly sweet to me. #2 feels a bit heavy, but still works; you could try removing the white button up there and doing a semi-tuck with a black belt. Great shorts, and go Team Wear!

Love #4! For the first outfit I like the idea of the black cons, a dark belt as Aida said and add the white jacket from 4 in if you need the warmth or to add a little structure.
