WIW the past few days

In my music schedule for the week, I noticed that the church service would be patriotic, so I decided to wear my (now washed) red white and blue for church:  Red ballet flats, blue clams, white belt (and bag, though I didn't have it with me most of the morning).  I kept my makeup fresh-faced (I noticed that when I have a more eye make-up on, people think I'm either sad or mad), and wore sparkly drop earrings and my big watch.  At the last minute, I added a pendant on a bright silver chain on  my husbands advice that more sparkle in the outfit was good.  I got a lot of compliments on it, so I guess it worked.  (pics #1-#2)

Yesterday I wore a green-blue print sheer top over a  white cami and jean shorts.  I liked the combo, but think I'm going to lop the sleeves off of the top.  I was thrilled to be able to wear these RATE cream oxfords again too - there was a couple of months where my feet wouldn't tolerate them, but they were okay yesterday. (#3)

And finally, and serious miss.  (#4 )  I'm not sure why I left this on all day Friday (granted, I didn't leave the house).  The orange mesh sweater-tank is now in the donation box, and the stone shorts may be headed there too (I think I'll give them one more chance). The sandals here got painted into silver - that's another post.

So, other than that I was a dofus for wearing #4, any tips, advice or suggestions?  What do you think?

I don't think 4 is as bad as you think....I wear worse around the house and in the garden! It reminds me of Leeloo and other costumes from The Fifth Element!

Love your RWB outfit. I think for the sheer top (which I really like BTW), would it be possible to take the elastic off the puff sleeves and make them more diagonal?

I really like you make up in #2. Makes you look more polished than rate though? Is that where you are going or is polish = good for church? and YES it totally works.

Loping the sleeves on the top would be a good call. The dark frilly hem doesnt seem to be in keeping with your sharp style. As for 4... sometimes you have to wear something for a day to decide how you feel about it. I do this A LOT with things I am trying to figure out if they should stay or go. The khaki short would probably bleach up to white nicely..... (Lately all khaki is getting bleached at my house....)

My goodness, I think you are really hitting your stride with these outfits.
You look so beautiful in the colours in #1.  Your comment (I noticed that when I have a more eye make-up on, people think I'm either sad or mad), made me laugh!
#3 and #4 look really good too. I see nothing wrong with #4.  I think you look tall and lean and it's a great summery look.  I am taking note as I so struggle dressing in the heat.

    Thank you all!

Kate - I'm not sure the sleeves will work as diagonal sleeves without some of the fabric removed - but I'll definitely try it before lopping them off :)  Other than the sleeves, I really like the top, and it's survived several purges without me knowing why.

Sarah - brilliant suggestion to bleach the shorts.  I think I will.  They're a higher rise than I prefer, but bleaching would give me white shorts without having to lop off my white jeans, so I think it's worth a try!

Thank you Deborah!  It took me several weeks to figure out why people at church  were pulling me aside and ask me if everything is really actually okay.  Then I wore minimal make-up for the first time in six weeks (because I ran out of time), and voila, no one thought I was distraught.  I've confirmed it a few times now: If I wear eyeliner on both above and below my eye, or try a cat-eye corner, people will think something's wrong.  I thought I was just looking a bit more bad-arse. Oh well.  More minimal eyes for me.  I prefer people thinking that I'm happy and content, like I am :)

Yeah you probably will have to take some fabric to make a diagonal, but maybe try it first before going sleeveless!

I rarely wear eye makeup, but often when I do I have had people ask if I was Thai. I don't know why!
