WIW the volume experiment

As you advised, I wore volume-on-volume this morning to church.

I normally would have worn black hoop earrings with this, but it felt too dark, so I went for sparkly studs to lighten up the look - I think it worked okay, do you?  (And my favorite tinted lip balm - is the make up too much?)

I also wore the strappy sandals, thinking they echoed the green stripes in the skirt.

What do you think?  Suggestions for improvement?

I find myself wishing for a hot pink bag to carry with this, and wondering why I didn't try on my hot pink and orange triangles necklace with it....

This works for me. My one reservation is the top (which I like in principle) seems to big on you. It seems to fall off one shoulder more. This is something that happens to me a lot too. The length of the skirt looks just right for a volume on volume look (show some great leg I say) and I like your lips too!

I think you look simply elegant--outfit, lips, hair too. You will make other women envy your long lean lines which enable you to pull this off!

You look fantastic, I really like the volume - on - volume.  A hot pink bag would look great, and so would your necklace.

I like this a lot! I see what Shevia says about the shoulders, maybe you can tinker with the fit so it looks oversized but not too big.

OH, this is gorgeous, all. I  like the top as it is, as it reminds me about flaterring dagonal sleeves what Angie blogged about.:-) Are you already back from your road trip to the wedding? Have I missed your posts about? Off to find out...:-)

The neutrals look great on you and really frame your pretty features. I'd stay with the palette and add in a pair of dangly earrings in black or tiger eye, which would match the skirt pattern. Dangly earrings are not everyone's cup of tea of course and totally impractical for a MOTG but I think they would suit you. There are gorgeous laser cut ones made by Isette on Etsy. Worth having a peek at.(Why I haven't yet bought myself a pair I do not know.)

Ok! This is my absolute favourite of all your outfits to date! I want to copy this...now! You look gorgeous.

    Did your DH like it?

Thanks all!  The main issues I had were first, the assymetry of the top made the neck pull funny - or the size - I thought yesterday it was the assymetry, but it probably was the size. And second, as I got undressed for bed, I noticed in my bathroom mirror that the shirt was really quite sheer, and I could see the outline of my entire bra (including the color difference for the bits of lace on the black bra).  I sure hope it wasn't that sheer in real life!  I may just use the t-shirt as a concept shirt for making a copy (which was most of why I bought it - because I've never understood the construction of shirts like this).

Otherwise, I felt really comfortable in this outfit, and I think the drama of the shapes made the lack of color work for me - it felt just right.
