WIW to a wedding

My only recent WIW pic - from the bathroom at my sister-in-law's wedding.

I picked up the dress at a rummage sale for a dime, and I'm thrilled with how it fits - I think it'll become a pattern block for me, if I ever make myself a dress.  But I'm not thrilled on the length of the cardi with it.  I think this cardi will be better over trousers.

Bonus family pics.

Okay, I'm done flooding the forum for tonight :)

Looks great! I can't believe you got it for a dime. Nice find. Hilarious family photo!

Amy you look lovely.  I am having trouble seeing the dress in detail but it looks great.  Simple and minimal.  I don't mind the length of the cardigan... it creates a nice line and looks elegant.    Such a fabulous family photo...both of them:)

    Thanks you all!

It's a very plain dress - nothing for any detail, and very simple lines.  But it fits just how I want - the perfect amount of ease, all the seams in the right places, etc - which is why it'll make a good pattern if I sew dresses :)

Did anyone walk into the bathroom while you were taking your picture :) ? Your daughter in the red in photo 2 made me laugh out loud.

Can I ask...why are you even wearing the cardi? The dress looks like it would have been much nicer without it, and the weather looked nice (the little girl is sleeveless)... You are right that the cardi is too long and also slouchy and casual--it belongs with jeans or with a work outfit. It makes the dress more casual and matronly. I hope this wasn't all about covering up your upper arms--you aren't fat!

Either way, looks like everyone had fun celebrating love, and that's what counts!

Good Questions VJ, and I did't wear the cardi all day.  It was chilly for sleeveless (My daughter was the flower girl and had no choice).  I added the cardi (which is sparkly) to lighten up the black-ness of the dress, and for warmth.  But yes, I think the cardi will be the perfect 'dress up jeans' cardi.  :)
