WIW: warmth

My priority in getting dressed this morning was warmth. So my whole outfit is under-layered with thermal underwear. I chose my green cashmere turtleneck for it's cuddly warmth, and decided to try breaking up the expanse of the upper chest with a chunky black necklace. I think it worked reasonably well - did it?

On the bottom, I'm trying out my new-to-me PPL (with 2" heels) black trousers. These, I think are keepers. But the top is awfully short with them. Reminding myself again to separate my knit tops into "okay with pants", and "not so much".

The pending project makes me a little sad. Since I can never figure out how to wear skirts, denoting a top "not for pants", basically means it needs to be purged, but so many of my favorites are in that category :( By next winter, though, I'm hoping to have all tops of the proper lengths.... Perhaps I should just invest some time in figuring out how to make skirts work... But pants are so easy.

Oh, and I tossed this jacket over the cashmere sweater. But I don't like it. I picked it up at clothing exchange because the color is cool - but it's too bulky-shouldered for me, and the collar is weird and stiff. I don't see any reason to keep it - do you?

Suggestions for improvement on this less-than-perfect outfit?

Stay warm everyone!

The jacket is SO cool! I love the color and the color blocking. This happens to be one of my favorite shades of green. Well done!

Can you semi-tuck the sweater? I find that can salvage a top that is slightly too short for optimal pants wearing. That colour of green is lovely on you!

I actually think the jacket is kind of cool! But if it feels yucky, it is a no go.

You look cozy in your trousers and sweater. Oh for long legs like yours!

Those trousers look divine on you. And kudos to you for figuring out all of your fit/length issues! I agree with your assessments.

Thanks all! I may give this jacket one more chance, but I'm not sure... I do love the colors, and maybe it'll feel or look better with a better under layer. We'll see.

These trousers have a higher rise than I'm used to tucking in to (they're all the way up to the top of my hips), and I'm afraid that tucking in to them will give me weird looking proportions. I'll have to try it and take a pic to see if I'm right :)

Amiable, with respect to the length of your tops. You mention that some of the ones you feel don't work with pants are your favourites :( This doesn't always work, but have you tried layering a cotton or stretch fabric cami in the same colour or tone underneath to extend the length?

Thank you Deborah - I have very few camis that are longer than my tops - it's time to visit a real store and get some!

Angie recommends the BP cami and it comes in about a thousand colors.

I actually like that jacket, but if it is unconfortable, I understand you would not want to keep it.
