WIW: Artsy Audrey (and pants length question)

Trying out two new pieces today - one in the black assymetrical tunic, that you can't see well in the picture.  I'm impressed with how warm it is, which thrills me!

The second is the crazy vest that was just so crazy I had to have it.  I'm still trying to decide if I like it.  It's subbing for a scarf, though the scarf would have been much more sophisticated.

I like the formula.

My question is with these pants (black jeans).  As is, they're just a smidge short, I think.  (Though they don't really look it in the pics, hmm... Maybe it's just me?).  I'm considering cropping them (as shown on the left).  Is that the proper length?  And would these look weird cropped to that length?

I'd also want to wear these with booties, as shown in pic 2 (and that's the length that they usually scrunch up to on my calf, shown on the right, also).

Apologies for the lack of hair care - I'm fresh out of the shower and forgot to add my headband before the pics.  Hair cut is scheduled for Wednesday!

WIW: Attempts at maximalixm

I must admit, I'm enjoying the maximalism trend more than I thought I would already.  I was already adding color back in to my wardrobe, and now I'm experimenting with more pattern and texture, and with wearing lots of statement items at once (which is my attempt at maximalism).

Today is a low-key day, so I decided to take the free time and upload a few photos.

#1 pink paisley with harems and leather.  The pink top is huge on me, but I like the drapey-ness, and looking at the picture makes me want to wear it again.

#2 blush top (with a ruffled back), brown plush vest and pearls.  The jeans are caught on my boot - they really are long enough.

#3 hot pink pants (may be becoming work horses) with black and white pattern mixing.

#4 just a basic asymmetrical sweater with cropped pants.  Added jewelry to increase maximalism.

#5 caramel sweater, with jacket.  Not too maximal, but comfortable for me.

#6 dark floral, cream plush vest. Tried tucking and adding a belt.

#7 This year's plaid shirt (brown, navy and cream) and cream plush vest.  Should have tucked....

All feedback is welcome - especially suggestions for improvement.

Transitional Black/white/grey pattern mixing

I was inspired by Aida's black/white/grey pattern and texture mixing, so tried something similar (well, as similar as I had in my closet anyway).  I ended up liking it pretty well.  Do you think it works?

I paired a black and white striped tube skirt with a marled grey swingy top. Topped it with the spiegel lemming black leather jacket (that I ended up wearing all day in the chilly A/C).  I had on a silver bracelet and brogues with ribbon ties shoes to make it more maximal.  But the color pallette kept it still almost minimal at the same time.

WIW: summer patterns

Summer is ending, and even though it's still getting up to 90 degrees, the evenings and mornings are gloriously cool.

Here's a few late-summer outfits.  I realized that my summer style almost always involved a pattern this summer.  Stripes and tribal prints got the most play.  Here's some stripes (and a check and leopard print included for fun).

Soon I need to cull my wardrobe of the worn out items and make space for fall/winter clothing.  All comments - especially suggestions for improvement - are welcome.

FFBO: Tunic and cropped pants

This is another summer favorite formula for me, and I loved it in these super-hero colors.

You can tell that I'm enjoying brights lately - especially with my short hair.

FFB Kimono and Denim

I finally found my camera cord, so can upload pictures.  I decided to just choose a few favorites to share :)

It surprises me to write it, but this ensemble has been a summer staple for me (maybe I'm embracing maximalism?)  It's fun to wear, and the kimono - jacket adds minimal warmth, making it hot-weather friendly.

I'm watching for a replacement kimono-type thing, because this has been fun to wear, but is poor quality, and the hems are fraying.  I expect to have to toss it after another wear or two, maybe even before.

WIW: big earrings

Our recent heatwave is over, and I was planning an outing to Costco and lunch, so I decided to dress so I wouldn't freeze.

It's a simple outfit, Old Navy black windopane top with faded skinny jeans and black birkenstocks.  I decided to finish it off with big earrings after reading this post, and I was happy with the result.

Still working on my daily style for my hair - in this version, I went to bed with it wet and under a stocking hat.  It almost worked, ha :)

As always, comments and suggestions for improvement are most welcome.  Thanks!

WIW: A neckerchief and crops outfit fail

In an attempt at this formula, I paired a striped tee that I like, but don't wear all that often with rust crops and a rust/brown neckerchief.  In my head, it was terrific.

Then I took a picture.  Sigh.  First, the proportions are off:  The shirt is too short for the crops, the crops are too short to be crops (they're more capris?), and they're too tight too, and the neckerchief is kinda too big (and too hot) to wear with it.

So I wasn't thrilled with it.  But glad to have the truth of the picture nonetheless.

The top goes fine with skirts.  I'm debating on keeping the pants - what do you think?  And I think the neckerchief trend is not a hot-weather trend for me.  Maybe next week when it should be cooler I'll try again.

WIW - springtime weather

I'm coming off of a lot of traveling with my family, and a bit worn out.  But I have managed to photo two outfits lately.

First, the maiden voyage of the EF harem pants, second a cobalt/white/black combo.

I was reasonably happy with both (moreso with the cobalt and white, I think, for figure flattery reasons).

What are your suggestions for improvement?

K/R EF Harem pants

I'm finally in town (after two weeks traveling, and before traveling next week too), so got a chance to try on the EF harem pants with a variety of tops and shoes.

Unfortunately, several of the pictures cut off my shoes :(   I'm going to show you them anyway, hoping that you can see enough to judge and I don't have to retake too many of them :)

My questions:
To winterize them,  I'd wear them with tights and boots, like in #14.  Does that work?

Where do they work and not work?  I think they're working best with hi-low hems and drapey tops, and not well with tops that leave a vertical line across my middle.  Am I right?

And I know you can't really see the shoes in the pictures, but I'm not a great judge of shoe combos - they all seem fine to me.  Are there ones that clearly work better or worse?

Do you think these work with a wide-enough variety of tops to warrant keeping them?

Do these set me in a good direction with my fashion?

My apologies for hair that got crazier and crazier in the wind and changing of tops....
