30x30 favorites continued

Just a couple more outfits showing my current favorites.

Pic #1-2:  I wore a denim dress over black ponte cropped pants.  It was a little chilly to wear bear ankles, so I wore my chelsea boots.  These boots have been favorites for a couple of years, but are on their last legs.  I'm debating taking them to a shop to see what a re-sole would cost, but have also bought a potential replacement (that wasn't tall enough for this outfit, go figure).  I wore them with a two-sided scarf - and showed both sides for print mixing, and a strand of black pearls.

Pic #3-4 I wore the usual WHBM jeans with a mottled dark gray sweater.  I love the shape of the sweater - dolman sleeves, a cowl neck and a circle hem.  I've already traced it off to copy it, someday when I have the time.  (Pardon the lack of make-up and combed hair - I forgot to take another one after I'd finished getting ready).  The gray brogues shown are my newest new-to-me acquisition.  I've decided that brogues are part of my signature style:  I currently have them in black suede, burgundy suede and now these in gray leather.  These are the best of the bunch and the most comfortable.

Both of these outfits are a little too colorless and too close to black to really delight me.  I want to add some warm color to them, I'm just not sure how.  I do like these (or I wouldn't have taken their pictures) - I'm just preferring more color in these gray winter days.

I welcome all of your feedback, suggestions and comments.

Cute. You are tempting me to add my denim dress and black ponte leggings to my 30. I will keep that thought for sure if the winter here continues to be warmer than normal. I like your grey brogues and that they are not black, yet work with black.

I have a tencel denim dress that I usually wear open.  I love it for spring and fall, but haven't styled it for winter yet.  Tomorrow will be rainy, but warm, so your look has encouraged me to bring it out for a whirl!

Yes, brogues suit you perfectly!  What about a pair of colored brogues for spring?  Maybe teal, yellow, raspberry, orange?

Thanks Joy and BethAnn.  I like that I feel relaxed and still put together in these outfits, despite their darkness.    (I'm taking my family to France in a bit over a week, for almost two months, and I feel like this sort of outfit will fit in well there.)

Ooh - I definitely need bright colored brogues!  They have just gone on my "watch for" list!

    Hi Amiable

You indicated that these two outfits are a little too colorless and too close to black to delight you.  I am exactly the opposite.  Grey days seem to make me want less color.  I revel in wearing exactly these types of colors.  I especially love that scarf in Number 1!!!!  My favorite outfit of the two is Number 2.  I like the long, lean lines.  Very flattering on you.

In terms of adding color ...... I am certainly not the one to ask.  But here are a few suggestions:  a scarf (we're seeing a lot of Challenge Participants working the scarves); a statement necklace in a bright happy color; a statement purse in a bright happy color; and lipstick.

And those outfits will certainly do you proud in France.  Happy Travels.

I like the components of the first outfit a lot, Amy. Denim with black and white is a great combination, and you wear it well. Is the tencel shirtdress a little big, perhaps?

I have a denim dress that looks similar to yours (I got mine at Target a couple of years ago) and I style it similarly.  My favorite way to wear it is with thick, footless tights and black shoes or chelsea boots.  So, I like your outfit!

You're right Angie - it's big - two sizes (maybe three) above me.  I like it roomy, but am watching for one that is closer to my size as well.

I like the combination of denim and black.  Great dress.  Perfect for France.  Nice boots.
