WIW: Fashion Era Challenge (70s, day 1)

I'm not sure I would have listed the 70s as a favorite style decade of mine last year, but this year I'm reminded that in high school I was always the 'misplaced hippie'.  I loved 70s fashion, and am rediscovering that love the spring.

Last week, I brought four pairs of new-to-me boot-cuts  in to my closet.  This era-dressing week is the perfect time to try them out, and I have to admit to being pretty thrilled at the idea of dressing for the 70s all week.

For my debut outfit, I chose basic bootcut jeans and a cognac brown sweater and shoes.  The color combination reminds me of the 70s, as does the shape of the jeans.  Happiness factor of this outfit is irrationally high.  I know it looks maybe even kinda frumpy, but somehow it feels amazing and flattering.

    Authentically, "70s. Add a few flicks in your hair and you are there. Nicely done.

    It looks very 70's and the sweater and jeans look great and comfortably you. :)

     I'd love to see it sometimes with a little more heel and maybe a more pointed toe under the jeans, just for a different variation on the look and to see the jeans line unbroken -- although I love the continuation of the earth tones in the loafers.

    Well done, this looks great. You need to go and make some home made yoghurt or vege soup in this outfit!

    Funny thing is, a few years ago, I'm sure I had authentic seventies (and earlier) pieces.  These are all new-ish.  The sweater was Old Navy last winter (they still have some colors available, but not this caramel), and the jeans are gap 1969 bootcuts.

    You have a boho touch to your style that works really well for the 70s, and you've amped it up perfectly here. And the brown sweater is such an iconic color for the era. You look great!

    The color brown is nice on you and of course is a reminder of the many earth tones of the 70's. I like that you've bookended with brown shoes and the jeans look great!
