WIW: boyfriends and vintage beatles

My boyfriend jeans are getting worn to death in this lovely fall weather!

#1-2 cream fluid sweater with the boyfriends.  It has a chevron back, which I think makes it more interesting.

#3-4 Burgundy sweater with longer jeans that I think still have the boyfriend vibe.  New plaid belt that I picked up at GoodWill.  It's super cheap quality, but I like the pattern.

#5, 8 Black/white criss cross top (with zippers on the shoulders).  Also a recent GoodWill find.

#6-7 Vintage black suede lace-up booties.  Are they beatle-esque or witchy?  They're really comfy, and I think I'll consider them a beatle placeholder unless you tell me they're awful (are they?)

#8-9 WIWing today: A tire-print tee with boyfriends (again) and brown accents.  I've been playing with warm and cool tones lately, and think that I generally like to wear cool tones but include warm and/or bright accents.  So this is playing with that concept.  Also, we're leaving on a little road trip in a couple of hours, and I couldn't resist wearing a "road trip" tee.  Does the mix of warm and cool tones work here?

Have a good weekend you all!  I'll be offline until next week.

Oh, and if you don't mind letting me know what works and doesn't, I'd be so grateful :)

Love your look in 6! I don't think those are Beetle booties (they didn't have laces) but they look fun!

Love your belt in 3, and that delicious purple.

Hope your road trip is great!

Amy, I love how fearless you are having fun with fashion. My eye hasn't adjusted to some looks, so take anything I say with that in mind.
I love the tee and styling in 1-2 as my favorite here.
3-4 looks great. The belt is fun.
    Love the top in 5.
I'm not sure about the Beatle shoes as they look like oxfords rather than booties. When I posted vintage flats with a snipped off pointed toe they got mixed reviews as far as looking modern, but the consensus seemed to be to try them under full length pants. I would suggest this for yours too unless worn with tights. My eye has not adjusted to the harshness of black with bare leg.
    Cute travel outfit.

Good point - they're not Beatle booties, because of the laces - and I knew that, just forgot when writing it up.  I'm mentally thinking of them as Beatle standins while I look for the perfect pair.

Good point, Joy, about the contrast between my black shoe and white leg.  It is pretty stark (and I haven't waxed my legs in forever - sorry for the hairy shot!)

Amy, I saw no hair. I've just not yet fully embraced the black footwear trend.
Another thought, just for fun, have you tried the hidden laces trick that Angie does?

You are wearing those BF's like a pro Amy. Love these looks.

The burgundy top in pics 3 and 4 is fab on you - gorgeous color for you and great fit. And that belt is very reminiscent of a Burberry pattern, don't you think? It's fab

Love the "faux" Beatle boots - I don't mind the contrast with your skin but I have a high tolerance for major contrast.

Great road trip outfit - have a great time :)

Ooh!  Look!  I'm a veteran!  What a fun thought.  I'll have to reminisce about my first year here as we drive!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

And thank you Ceit, Joy and Shannon!

I do think the belt is meant to be a Burberry knock-off - I love it already.  :)

I actually really like the black booties with the top you're wearing them with. Fun outfit! And the drape on the Tee in the first two pics is terrific. Hope you have a great trip!

i love #3. i think the burgundy color is great on you, and those jeans really have the boyfriend vibe. the semi/ faux tuck is perfect. and the belt, great find.
i like the booties, i would love to see them with the jeans from #3.
i like the shirts in #5 & 9, the shirt in #1 has a great look, but for some reason i like the darker shirts more.

Omg, you are rockin' it this Fall. Those tops are the perfect fluid fit.

Also, did I say I was a sucker for a black and white top? Ack. Love 5&8!

The new shoes look good but more oxford than Beatles.  I really like the burgundy on you and the top in #5 is FAB..

I love the stompiness and the belt-shoe echoing in 9 and 10. Love the black booties, elegant and quirky in a good way. Congrats on veteran status, you are a great addition here.

    Hi amiable

First I think the general style is well done,  the BF and fluid top look seems to suit you.  Love the many shoes you choose to finish off each outfit
I noticed that the second top, the purple one, really made you glow.  Perhaps it is on of your colors?  I would suggest more color like that in future items
    Loved the belt!
I felt that last outfit was a bit too big.  BF give that impression anyway, but a fluid top lets us see a feminine form, something in the last outfit felt too masculine, too formless and it was my least favorite.

Oh, I liked the long sleeve tops best.  I am not a big fan of the cap sleeve so it might be my bias.

In general I feel you have learned something because these outfits are up a notch!  Good for you.

BFs are your friend indeed.  Those are cute shoes, though I agree not Beatle boots.

Love your black booties!  I consider them almost an oxford, and I think you'll find lots of uses for them!  Love the burgundy top and #8.  I think high contrast is just as valid as low contrast with BFs  It's not leg lengthening, but then, you have legs for days, so that hardly matters!
