WIW: No black week

MsKatieKat's comment on a recent thread of mine (that I wear color well) made me decide to challenge myself to not wear black for a week - or at least, not close to my face.  Black has never been my best color, but a while ago when I decided that it wasn't too bad either, I started wearing it quite a lot.  And somehow wearing lots of color started to feel too loud for me.  So I'm challenging myself to find ways to wear non-black that still feels "like me" and not over-powering.

Here's the first three days of the challenge. How am I doing?  Are these colors at all flattering on me?  And pardon the pre-combed-hair pictures (yikes).

#1 wearing today - a column of blush with an olive jacket.  I'm not sure it works. (The belt is white, and the shoes pink.  I think perhaps I should change to a gray or mid-tone shoe to go better with the olive linen jacket....

#2 - #3 worn yesterday.  This top is a tunic (or probably a dress), and has a weird waist seam and pockets.  But I decided that the pattern is current enough to try out.  I'm thinking almost of cutting it into something else -- not sure.

#4 worn Sunday to church - a peacock shell with white.  I tossed a sparkly light silver cardigan on over it for the frigid A/C at church, and got lots of compliments on how stylish I always look.  Ha :)  The shoes in this pic are washed out - They're aquamarine floral espadrilles that my sister just brought me from Spain.  They're super cute, but I changed to birks later in the day for comfort.

Suggestions for improvement?

So far, I don't really miss my black.  But I doubt I can go super long without it.

Love 2 the best! I think the blush and olive works too. The third outfit is good, the peacock blue is gorgeous.

You do wear color well! I especially like both shades of blue.

Wow Amy - these are fantastic outfits! I absolutely LOVE the column of blush (this follows Angie's olive & pink ensemble).

It's fun to see you in pink, Amy. And those espadrilles in #4 bring back sweet memories. I'm going with #4 as my best. xo

My favorite is 1, but I really love blush and a column of it is gorgeous. All these outfits are wonderful on you. You do wear color well, especially near your face.

I love #1 on you but the others are all great too.

Great outfits Amy! I like #1 and #4 the best. It's nice to see you in blush pink and olive. Hmm, I wish I had some more blush in my wardrobe.

All these colors look good on you Amy. I like them all!

The top in 4 is a great color on you, you look very summery. My favorite is 1.

They're all great, but my favourite is #3! That blue is gorgeous on you... I find it very hard to eliminate black and dark colors in general in my wardrobe, it's just what I'm often drawn to. Nevermind that I look better in softer, lighter colors. But I did make some progress.

I like all these outfits.  I think that different colored shoes in #1 would be fun to try, but the pink ones you have on look good.  I like the pattern in #2 and the fun shoes in #3.

Awwwwwww Amy!!!!!! :) I'm so flattered you mentioned me here, and I'm so glad my comment inspired you! <3 you DO wear colour well, and as I always say, "You got it, flaunt it!" :)

That said, you in blush gives me the warm fuzzies. Remember the Toronto meetup and you once said you can't wear blush but discovered that you looked great in it? Something about blush just really works with your skintone and adds a softness to your look. Keep wearing it because you look lovely in it!

I also like the bluish teal-ish top in #4 on you - see how it brightens your face?

Overall - these are amazing outfits on you and I love how you're continually challenging yourself creatively! Soooo proud :)

I really like all of these, but #4 just takes the silvery cake! LOVE it on you. The peacock is stunning with the white, of course, but it's equally stunning on you.

The blue of #2 is also lovely. That mid blue is one of my own very best colours. In fact, that top reminds me of my Zara jacket from last year!

Love them all! Keep going and going. Great way to remix in ways you wouldn't have thought of before.

The blush and olive is my favorite, those colors look lovely on you.

I like them all! You are not missing black at all. Nothing's seems "loud" ...you really do wear color well.

MsKatieKat - Thank you!  I remember that moment well!  I should have mentioned blush in my comment on this morning's blog post.  I have to admit, I really really do like it on me now :)

Suz - That top does remind me of your stunning jacket!  So cool!

And thanks everyone else too!  I'm looking forward to the rest of the week in color, and so far not feeling silly for sporting color this way.
