WIW: Shell over shirt

I finally got around to trying this ensemble - it's a bit different for me, but I think it's mostly okay.  What would be better if it were different?

chambray shirt
lace sweater-type shell
dark wash skinny jeans

Happiness factor is only just above 'okay'.  I don't feel like it's really me, but I like experimenting to try new things, and this was a reasonably successful experiment in spite of not really feeling 'me' in it.

Super cute. Nice injection of a light colour for Fall. Sneaks are fab too.

Horray, amiable! You tried something new! Always a 'win" in my book!

I like it, but you have to feel comfortable in the style. Does the shell work over a shirt that is some shade of white or white jeans? Maybe you would be happier with less contrast although it looks great as you have styled it.

I think it looks good and I like the contrast of lace and chambray.  What feels "off" about the outfit to you?  Maybe you can switch the pieces to make it feel more natural.

Good thought Joy - I'm actually okay with the contrast level - I find I'm more at home in a bit higher contrast (probably because my natural coloring has some contrast).  I think it's the lace that feels off to me -- to much pattern, maybe?  Or maybe just too fussy-looking (it wasn't actually fussy, and was very comfortable).  I suspect that a different shell would have done the trick for me, but it's currently the only one I have.  Perhaps I'll watch for another.

I was just thinking of you... that I hadn't seen an amiable thread in awhile... of course, I'm snowed under with work right now... You look adorable. The shell fits over the shirt pretty well - not too tight. My thought, tho, was that the top layer could be looser, or the under layer more drapey/silky. More "movement" would take it up a notch.

Thanks Rachy - great suggestion.  I definitely have more drapey silky shirts for the under layer, and can try that out even if I don't find another shell for over the top.

And I'm super busy with work too right now, so I haven't been posting as regularly as usual.

I like it! You look girlish-tomboy, which is something I dig. Love your hair too.
