WIW: Summer orphans

With the sudden warm weather, I'm trying out various summer looks.

Most of these outfits are utilitarian - for taking a walk (#2), or for having a garage sale (#1).  But also most of my summer clothes are "orphans", in that I didn't wear them last year, and I have no real idea of how to wear them.  So I thought I'd get your input :)

#1 The floral tank is short and boxy, but I like the colors and don't really have a lot of summer tops yet.  Is it worth keeping?  These jeans, I think I like better rolled - boyfriend style.

#2 The paisley shirt is still kind of a mystery to me.  Here it's with blue jeans to walk with a friend.  Her hubby thought I'd lost weight (which I've gained, not lost), so maybe it's thinning?  I suspect the jeans need hemmed?

#3 I never wore this tribal top last year.  This year I like it.  Worn with Soul-sucking beige capris.  Should either or both stay?  I think I should narrow the legs of the capris if they stay.  Is the color okay?

#4 The polka-dot top that I thought should be for winter but was just too cold.  Coming out to play in Spring now, and I like it.  I think I'll narrow the legs of the capris.

Sorry for the focus issues - I'm learning the ropes on a new camera - a mothers day present!

Suggestions?  Please feel free to tell me to ditch any/all of these :)

I think the floral tank can go.

The shirt in 2, is the best I have seen you style it!

Keep the top in 3, but the capris should go -- they don't do you any favours and the colour is kind of meh.

    Polkadot top is fun!

    Thanks Kate -

Suggestions for styling the top in #3?  I like it too - but can only think of it with black and beige.  Maybe blue jeans?

I am in agreement with Ceit on these.

I like how you used color in #4 - I think this is a great way to achieve your goal of incorporating lots of color in an outfit and it looks very stylish on you this way.

#3 is the far and away the best, IMHO.  I think ti could be styled a lot of ways. It is patterned but neutral in color. Perhaps with a pair of black capris and sandals for a dressy look. White jeans would look fab with it too.

I think #1 can go assuming you have other garments. Otherwise, I would look to replace it.

#2 is tough. It doesn't seem to fit in your normal style rubric. It it would look nice with a cami underneath and some flowy linen pants or a skirt.

#4 is fun and I would love to see it with white jeans and those red shoes.  You rock jeans!

I think you've done a great job styling all these piece in all these outfits. Hands down, #3 is the most polished look. #4 I enjoy the most; it's just so happy. The floral tank's a bit short, but you've handled that right by layering; so but still, might be nicer to have something that you didn't have to work at. #2 looks easy and fresh.

I like the top in #3 and I like the whole outfit in #4.
By the way, your hair is looking great, I think it really suits you!

#4 is my fave, but I am a sucker for polka dots.  But even with that, it's super cute and you look really happy in it.  I agree with the decision to taper the cropped pants.

I like the top in #3 and would wear it with dark denim jeans - skinny, flared, cropped - you choose.  White denim would also work.  Maybe your red jeans as well? Also, what if you tapered the legs and cut them off to make the pants into bermuda shorts? You might have more versatility there.  I do not have mad sewing skills like you so I'm not sure if that is even possible! :)

In #2 the outfit is good but you could also swap out the runners with the red flats in #4 for an additional outfit idea.  The orange shirt is definitely sharp and has lots of possibilities.

#1 is okay but does not compare to the possibilities in all of the other pics.

I would let #1 go. Number 2 looks good the way you've styled it. Number 3 is my fav and I think it would look great with blue, red, green, just about any color bottoms. I'm a polka dot gal so you know I love #4. As for the capris, I would definitely taper the legs.

Well actually I would want to see the floral top without the jacket before you let it go. I like the black band. I like the tops in #3 and #4 but the capris have to be narrowed and/or shortened and/or replaced. Not sure about the paisley top. Your good natured smile should stay!

#3 with your red jeans or white bermudas? You're probably not a twirly skirt kind of girl, but I think #4 would look cute with one.
