K/R EF Harem pants

I'm finally in town (after two weeks traveling, and before traveling next week too), so got a chance to try on the EF harem pants with a variety of tops and shoes.

Unfortunately, several of the pictures cut off my shoes :(   I'm going to show you them anyway, hoping that you can see enough to judge and I don't have to retake too many of them :)

My questions:
To winterize them,  I'd wear them with tights and boots, like in #14.  Does that work?

Where do they work and not work?  I think they're working best with hi-low hems and drapey tops, and not well with tops that leave a vertical line across my middle.  Am I right?

And I know you can't really see the shoes in the pictures, but I'm not a great judge of shoe combos - they all seem fine to me.  Are there ones that clearly work better or worse?

Do you think these work with a wide-enough variety of tops to warrant keeping them?

Do these set me in a good direction with my fashion?

My apologies for hair that got crazier and crazier in the wind and changing of tops....

Very nice. YES. You have plenty of ways to wear the harem pants.

    To my eye, #1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 17 and 18 work best.

#14 is hard to see so I can't accurately answer your question.

Oh my -- these harem pants are beyond fabulous on you. You have some amazing outfits here -- my favorites being #1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 17.  I would definitely keep these pants and continue to play with different outfit ideas. Yes -- the hi-lo tops are a perfect match for these bottoms, but I think the asymmetrical tops also work well. I like your "winterizing" idea in #14.

My favorites are 1, 2, 3,6, and 18.  I agree that they look best with assymmetrical and/or drapey tops. There seem to be plenty of beautiful outfits so I vote keep.   I like them best with some skin showing - both arm and leg - so I'm not sure how to best winterize them.

Wow- how nice ! There are indeed another tops and shoes in your collection to make these work . In my humble opinion- the simpler the better with these pants , and the "artier" or sharper the shoe the better . You look great in them - colour me envious :)

Oh definitely keep. They look like they could be a staple for you. Really they look great. 9, 12, and 13, don't work as well for me, but as others have said, you seem to have lot's of great combinations. They look so stylish and comfy.

    KEEP!
With so many Fab outfit choices that all look great they are a winner.

I think the tops that work best are shorter in the center and longer on the outside. The super long tunic is probably a no, and the denim vest likewise, but other than that you have a ton of good options.

    Thanks for your wisdom!
I agree - to me #4 doesn't work (but could with a semi-tuck), #5 is iffy, I don't like #9, but I'm not sure why, #10 brings out my chubbiness (and the top is a bit too casual for the pants), and #13 doesn't work (but would probably work with leggings or skinny pants instead of the harems.

I also think the denim espadrilles in #7 don't work, but most of the rest of the shoes are okay, I think.  Lisa's suggestion to keep the footwear sharp is good.  I'm still looking for the perfect sandals for this year, and forgot to try them with nude loafers.  I need some arty shoes, I think :)

These look fab on you. I agree with UmmLila about the tops. Looks like you have lots of great options!

I like 1, 2, 6 (top but not those shoes. Try shoes from 1-2) and 18 best.

    They look great on you!

KEEP. I esp like Nos.  6 and 18.

You look amazing in these, Amy! Love them! My favourites are 1, 2, 3. I think the shoe plays a huge role, but I wouldn't  be against a pointed booties in F/W. I also like 6, 7, and 17, and maybe 18 thought it's harder to tell.

Yay!  So glad you found these.  They are fun and quite cool and casual.  Let us see them on their maiden voyage!

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Transformative! The shoes/outfits  in 1/2 are my favorite here and agree that simple tops are the best bet. I prefer the not button ups, and the shoes that show some skin.

  • Sally replied 7 years ago

I have pants like these so it was interesting to see that the best tops were those longer or assymetrical tops which I had suspected when wearing them myself. So I really like 1,2, 3, 6, 7, 11 and 18 is my favorite.

All of them work! Sorry I don't have better feed back. I love'em

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Love them on you!  I think most of these combos work perfectly.  The ones I am not keen on due to the proportions would be 4, 13 and 15.  I know 14 is a tunic but I would love to see that semi tucked to one corner.  As far as the tights go, I would prefer to still see a little skin with your boots, any chance a neutral sock stocking / knee high would be warm enough??

Oh that's a keep by the way :)

If you have a chance please add your stylings to our Harem Pants inspiration thread:)

Keep for sure. But to be short and sweet about it...not keen on the button down tops with the harems... :o

  • replied 7 years ago

Agree with others: these are a definite keep and look fabulous on you. I'm also a fan of the simpler, drapier tops as in 1,2,6 and 17. I particularly love the column look of 17.

To your point about not liking 9 as well, I think the top is more traditional, and the harems call for edgier pairings. Prints --as in 5,9 and 12 -- are harder to pair with them IMO.

I wear my harems with tights and boots in winter--it's hard to see how 14 looks without a full shoe view. I'm not sure about the length and less draped upper body fit of the top with these harems though. I think the boot and tights look is best paired with a chunky sweater.

You look fab in these and I hope you enjoy wearing them. You certainly have plenty of workable renditions here--a big plus as I have struggled to make sure mine don't become orphans.
