WIW: Black and blue

Today I have a chance I've been waiting for - a cool enough day to try out Aida's black and faded combo.  I think I like it.  What do you think?

Yesterday I wore (for the first time) a blue with black polka dots Vince top that I GoodWilled a while back.  I'm not sure that it's really 'me', nor that it's really current.  What do you think?  It was fun to wear regardless, and I like the way it fits.

All comments are welcome - I especially like suggestions for improvements!

The first outfit is perfect! I love faded jeans and black too.

The second outfit is perfect and comfy for running errands. The top might not be *current* but I think it would be a good layering piece. I have a few such tops too.

Love the first outfit. Those jeans are great on you.

Excellent job finding flared jeans in a fluid fit!  I think the first outfit is gorgeously simple.  I could see a strong and simple cuff bracelet of some sort on your wrist.  I could also see a vest layered over the tunic for a cooler day.

As for #2 -- it's hard to see the detail on the top, but I love the color combo.  Have you tried it with a simple summer skirt?  I have a plain black knit skirt, with a drawstring waist no less, that I got at Kohl's last year.  I think the shorter length of the top would be a natural mix with a casual skirt.  Both the capris and top are in cuts/silhouettes that have been around awhile.  Now, you look terrific as is, but it might work best to pair the capris with more fluid fits and pair the top with a more tailored crop pant with a cuff or a wide leg linen trouser.  I find I get more wear out of things in my closet when I pair them with an updated piece.  Conversely, I think using older items with new can keep me from looking like a fashion victim and make my dollars go farther.

Love outfit #1!  I feel like this is quintessential 2014.

I can't really see the detail on #2, so hard for me to comment.

#1 brought me in from The Wall, but I must say - you look very fetching in #2.

Those jeans are gorgeous on you!  I like Beth Ann's suggestion of pairing some jewelry with outfit #1.

The first look works. Good job, Amy.

I can't see the second top well enough to identify the dots. *sad face*.

Here's a brightened photo.  I think I'll just have to wear the top again and take a well lit picture - it's got ruching and a surplice neckline - none of that shows really well in my early morning pic.

They both look terrific. I always love faded blue and black!

Great outftis Amiable:)  I love the ease and look of effortless cool in the first outfit.  Depending on what I was doing, I would be inclined to add a silver earring or long pendant to 'brighten' the look.  #2 is really cute. I find the style of the top a touch dated BUT I am not sure that is relevant because 1. it's very flattering on you and 2. this style is still in our stores and being worn IRL.

Black and blue is a very nice combo on you :)
