WIW: Busy season

Just when I think I'm through the latest wave of produce, something else gets ripe.  Late apples are ripening now, and pears are on their heels.  Add that to a big work conference (and associated deadlines) coming up in a week, and I'm kinda scarce around here.

Here's my recent WIWs. I'd love to know your thoughts on them!

#1- #2  I finally altered this print shirt into diagonal sleeves.  Do they work?  Should I just take the sleeves the rest of the way off?

#3 Black tee and newly altered boyfriend jeans.  Does the fit look right?  Should the cuff be narrower?  I thought I'd wear this with the jacked (#5) for an outing that included frigid a/c.  But I forgot, and I lived through it.

#5 It's still hot, but I'm in the mood for cooler weather clothes, so I've started to transition despite the heat.  I like these white jeans cuffed into boyfriends.

#6 I was much more RATE than I intended.  I wanted to try this somewhat polished top with more RATE jeans, and decided to up the 'tomboy' factor with converse.  When the day was nearly over, I noticed that my shoes don't match.  (And I was out in public, with other homeschool families all day long!).  I'm trying to pretend that it was on purpose and that I rocked the look.  But they're not even the same size, and I'm a little mortified that I spent the day in public dressed like this.

#7 is an experiment with colors.  The top is a dress that, besides being way too short for a dress, is just blah on me.  But Angie posted about combining colors, and I felt like it was immediately happier when paired with the springy green shorts.  So I wore it today.  It kinda looks like a tucked in dress though, so I'm not convinced that it's a keeper.

Hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer!

You look SO good in the white jeans with the plaid shirt! The paler stripe in the plaid carries the line up from the white jeans, and the brown belt and shoes are the perfect soft accent, and tone with your hair.  That is just wow.

Did you change into matching shoes for the pic? I can't see the mismatch. Twice in the last 2-3 weeks I have worn black when I thought I was wearing navy, once pants that I thought matched the navy stripe in my Breton, and once a tee that I picked to match my navy lace skirt! Ug!

Here's a close up of the shoes - see the mismatch now?  I have no idea if I used to have two pair of converse (I now only have one, and it's a non-pair) or if I actually picked them up mismatched.  One has a white tongue, the other a black tongue.

BF's look great, Amy!  I think they might look even better with a little narrower roll, but I think that's a matter of personal preference.
#5 is a great look, and I'm loving the shoes
I love the spring green shorts, but I think the print in the top/dress is overwhelming you a bit.  What's your happiness factor
As for the shoes?  I walked around for a whole day with two separate earrings a few weeks ago.  And they weren't artfully mismatched, either.  I bet no one noticed the shoes --- they look quite similar.  Did your kids notice?  You could tell them it was a test of their scientific observation skills!  Your cross body bag is a great day-trip purse!

You may start a new trend with your converse! I love the blue top and white jeans on you and think #1 works well. I love the combination of colors with the green and blue but the dress needs to be altered or something to wear as a top I think. Try cuffing the jeans different ways and go for which looks best to you - I am sure there are rules but who cares!

You are really rocking the boyfriend look -really suits you. I like 3&4 best. Could you cut the dress own into a top as you're right it does look like a dress tucked in.

That boyfriend jean look is one of your best yet! Terrific on you. I am not sure about the taper. You could go narrower but I'm not sure it is necessary on you.

How upsetting about the shoes -- but I am sure nobody noticed, or if they did, they thought you were starting a new trend.

I had to laugh about the shoes - I did that once when I had the same shoes in black and navy - I was teaching kindergarten at the time and they didn't recognize the mistake, so I stayed in my classroom all day!

You look fantastic in the BF jeans. I think the sleeves in #1-#2 look good. Could you taper the dress/top in a little through the waist? It does look like a dress tucked in, but the colors are nice with the green jeans.

You look smashing in #1 and #7. Proportionally, I like those outfits best.

The BF jeans look great. Good alteration job, Amy.

Your mismatched Converse look intentional. Quite a fun look.

Hmm... I'll have to come back to study this later - the proportions are good in #1 and #7?  I was thinking that they weren't good in those two, because they are pretty much 50/50....
