WIW: BWB again, with arm party

In honor of Imogen's FABuary challenge, I sported an arm party yesterday.

Here's her arm party post:

My arm party - a sparkly blue and black (with a accents in red and yellow) bangle, went with another version of Black/White/Blue from Angie, here:

But I did it in the more-predictable way, blue (jeans) on bottom, with black over white on top. I didn't like it as well as I liked the blue jacket. I think that somehow, having both black and white (and probably to the absence of other colors) near my face, makes me washed out. So I felt like this was a fairly mediocre outfit.

Am I right? I'm guessing this could be improved by a colored scarf, or by a colored, instead of black jacket. What other suggestions do you have?

And pardon my attempts to use the self-timer on my camera phone app to my advantage. Those are shadows of paper snowflakes that the kids made and taped to the windows in pic #2.

Your white top has lots of texture. I think I'd add a belt to #2 rather than a scarf. Your arm party is pretty and adds sparkle.

Amiable, I think it might be worth trying a topper that contrasted more with the jeans. In the photos at least the jacket tones with the jeans almost creating a suit effect.

I love your sense of adventure! You inspire me!

imiable are you tall? Your legs always look so long:) I do like neutrals and this looks simple and put together to me. A patterned scarf with some colour could look good to and provide the lift you are looking for. I can easily looked washed out being fair skinned and make up helps if not some colour in my outfits:) You look good and love the arm party.

Good idea Joy, Thank you - the top does have lots of texture (it's eyelet)

Good suggestion Adelfa - I think you mistake my cluelessness for adventure, but I'll accept being an inspiration anyway :)

And Deb, yes, I'm almost 5'9", so sorta tall. Thanks for the compliment - I like having long legs :) My skin is fair too - maybe that's why I require color near my face!

Mediocre? Not hardly. Look at how much better your fits are these days! The jacket is a great fit. I think pairing it with a mandardin collar really works here! And the trouser jeans are a great choice for the jacket.

I think a belt in #2 might make create a stronger "finish" for the outfit. I agree that blue is probably a better color for you than black near your face, but your complexion is quite peaches and cream -- a good thing. You're fair, but not washed out.

Thanks Beth Ann - I've been considering looking back at my old WIW so that I can see the progress I've made. But I'm afraid it would embarrass me to see what I actually thought looked good a few months ago. LOL. I think I'll just accept that I know I'm learning stuff!

I like this a lot! The fit and proportion of this outfit are spot on, and you don't look washed out to me. I think Joy and Beth Ann are right about adding a belt to #2, but other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.
