WIW: mish mash of trials

In my quest for new sandals, I've now realized that I may want two pair - a nude, comfy pair for every day, and a more hard-edge black pair (such as were featured in today's ensemble, and for similar outfits).

And then I remembered that I have a pair of pink Danskos hidden somewhere, so I dug them out - thinking that I can buy leather paint and make them a nude that works for my skin.  So I'm trying them out for comfort today.  I realize they don't especially work in this outfit.  (And I must admit, they're not as comfy as my other Danskos either - maybe I need to break them in to my foot)

Inspired by the color of Shannon's sweater, I decided to wear my teal shirt.  I have a nude cami underneath - does it work?  I was reaching for my white jeans to wear with it, when I came across these flares.  I liked Aida's flares the past couple of days, so decided to try them out too.  I like the way the fit (and they do brush the floor when they're not caught on my shoe, like in the pic).  Do these look at all current?  (I doubt they are - I got them at Goodwill).

Yesterday was a "just throw on something" day, so I ended up with blue and olive.  I liked it okay, but my feet were really tired of those sandals by the end of the day.

Both outfits are nice.  I like the blue with the pink shoes and think the flares look good (I'll admit I'm not an expert on dated vs. non-dated though).  The olive and blue looks really good.  I love those sandals!

I really like the second outfit. Too bad the sandals aren't comfy. I think the flares look good too!

I think the pink sandals can work as a nude. I have some pink oxfords that totally work as a nude for me. Love the flares outfit! Cool 70s but current vibe. I like your hair too!!

I think the flares look pretty current. But I really love your jeans in outfit 2. And the blue sandals are lovely too. Fab outfits IMO.

I was just thinking how much I like the pink sandals - but you want to paint them - so I am sobbing a little.

#1 is a great look as it.

Really Angie?  To me the look too bubble-gummy.  I was thinking of painting them a champagne color - closer to nude for me, and closer to matching the base of the sandles.  Do you think that would ruin them?  My feet are becoming accustomed to them, and I might be able to wear them for all-day-walking sandals after all....

But if they work as pink - maybe I'll just leave them...

I like the colour too :) I like both outfits. I rather like the fluid shirt with the flares, you have structure from your forearms and neckline. Very nice.

Love both of these. The fluid fit of 1 is especially fab. Love the Danskos!

I really like the whole look in #2! Great job!

The blue sandals are great! Are they comfy?

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

JAileen - they are super comfy and cushy at first, but after about 6 hours of standing/walking, they make my feet tired.  I'm guessing that's passable for most people, and it is for me on about half the days.

You look awesome in 1 Amiable!  So long and lean!

I like both outfits and especially like the flares! It can be hard to find flares in a lighter color denim. I had asked about pink flats a while ago, and the consensus was that pink can function as a neutral. Obviously you wouldn't want a bright pink as a neutral, but your sandals look very light and therefore work for me.

Boy, I know the rolled jeans are the "in" look, but those flares are hugely flattering and make you look miles tall. The fluid top is enough to keep it modern, I hope, 'cause I'd keep wearing those! Can't help on shoe color--they're either "you' or not. The pink can function as a sort of nude if you think re-coloring might wreck them and if you still like the pink. So it may be versatility (nude) vs. personality (pink).
