WIW: Plaid shorts - long or short?

Ever since Angie posted on de-bombshelling shorts, I've wanted some shorts.  Today it occurred to me that I could take some of my not-great capris and cut them off!

So I popped these on and rolled them up to see what length I liked.

My kids heartily disapproved - they only like them long.  But I'm pretty convinced I like them better short.  (Three lengths are shown here - I like the shorter two better, and I think I like the shortest best, but I'm not sure on that.).

What say you?  Which give the best proportions with this length of top (which is in the range of most of my summer tops - probably an inch longer, but it's scrunched up a bit in these pics too) ?

Or should I ditch these shorts altogether?

    I think below the knee is kind of fun for a beachy look but I prefer the middle length for every day (but that is my favorite length for shorts so I am biased.)

    I like the middle length the best and I think it is the most versatile length.  You have the legs to make the shortest length look great, but it seems to me that I've seen that length with a wider hem, but somehow I want to see plaid longer than that.  The longest length looks too wide and frumpy to me, and besides with your beautiful gams you should go shorter.

    They all look good to me, even the longest - have weird sugar eye for that length, maybe because I prefer to cover my not-so-fab legs. But you, my dear, have AMAZING legs so I say work 'em. You should definitely look for some shorter shorts, but I do feel that in the plaid, the bermuda (so mid) length is classic. But yeah, totally get or make yourself some hottie short shorts!

    I do like the shorter length. It shows off your great legs but are not TOO short. I do find that showing a bit of upper leg is flattering.

    I vote middle or shorter length. Both look great and you certainly have the legs to wear them well.

    In the plad fabric, I like the short best.

    I would go for something between the middle and the shorter length. You have great legs and can pull the shorter length off, but I would like to see the plaid slightly longer, I think.

    I like the middle length but I think the longer would be good too just ending at the middle of your knee. Your legs look great - it isn't about that!

    I vote middle or shorter, depending on your own comfort level and where you think you'll wear them. The middle length is versatile, but you do have great legs and can definitely go for the shorter if you prefer!

    You have great legs. How about hemming them to the longer of the short lengths? Then you can still roll them to the shortest length when you feel like it. Often kids just don't want things to change.

    I agree with Shevia that the longer look ending at the middle of your knee can look great, but otherwise I prefer the shortest one.

    I'm not even looking at the other responses -- I definitely like them shorter on you, and the shortest length looks fab. You have great legs! I'm envious.

    I like the longer rolled-up look best. Not the longest and not the shortest. Fun Madras shorts!

    I like the shortest length or the middle length.  Joy has a great idea about rolling them.
