WIW: playing catch up

You know it's been too long since you posted a WIW when you have to pull up your own posts to figure out what outfits you have and haven't posted.  Yikes.

So here's a few that apparently I haven't posted.  (At least, I can't find them in my recent posts...)

Here they are in order that they were worn.  And nearly all looking a little rumpled.  Sorry - I'm that way most of the time :)

#1 - a replacement white "fisherman" type sweater for my too short one.  This one is longer but not as warm, so I'm not ditching the other just yet.

#2 Gray-out (with black Spiegel jacket)

#3 A very creamy colored fisherman sweater with black skinnies.  I picked up this one even though it's VERY dated because it's 100% wool and obviously not young, but not at all pilled.  I expect it'll last a long time, and I love the warmth.  With a shirt under it, it's not itchy for me.

#4 burgundy skinnies and a gray sweater.

#5 an attempted Suz copycat - tomato skinnies, cobalt sweater and brown jacket (sort of a more saturated peach/blue/brown).  This one got rejected and not worn.  But I don't think it's too awful.

#6  tomato skinnies with navy and fun arm warmers.  These arm warmers have single-handedly (single armedly?) lifted my winter blues.  I suddenly love the sour brights in them.

#7 Finally worked up to wearing my white jeans again.  And I liked it, so I've worn this twice already this week.  I thought I had semi-tucked to show my belt, but obviously it didn't stay.

All comments are welcome - especially suggestions for improvement!

I miss you outfits when you don't post regularly:)  #1 so fab.  Need to copy.  #7 is so good I nearly fell of my desk chair.  The blue is gorgeous and with the white jeans it's just a stunning look.  I like all of these and think you are hitting your stride but it has to be said, IMHO #1 and #7 are out of the ball park.

Wow. You have really been working it. You've really tightened up your look. I'm way impressed. I feel so undisciplined! Lol.

Nicely done, Amy! I have a soft spot for grey and burgundy -- that look was both fab and cozy. And the last is my favorite -- of course, you know I love white and cobalt, but I really love the bag and the dark accessories.

Glad to see your posts.  Something about #3 strikes me...maybe the reds and cream.....very pretty.  And #7 looks so fun.  I like how the scarf is off to the side..fab detail!

You look great and have really honed your style. I love your new chunky cream sweater (#1). It looks fab paired with the camo pants. Outfit #7 sends me over the moon… stunning! And -- You really rock those tomato red skinnies.

Rumpled where?! :). You look lovely in all the pics!! The first thing I noticed was your bookending skills with scarves and shoes! Just perfect. The Suz copycat outfit is truly good! Not sure why you didn't like it. Great color combo!

The last outfit is just stunning! Cobalt is really your color :)

Wow - Thanks everyone!  I do need to be more consistent about carving out time to post here (if only because it's SO MUCH EASIER to find outfits again if you only have one per post)....

The Suz copycat wasn't really bad in my opinion, it just got rejected because I was trying to decide whether to wear it or the burgundy/gray in #4.  The burgundy/gray won - especially based on my husband's vote.  He felt that the colors of #5 were kinda haphazard.

These are all really good outfits! The only one I hesitate endorsing is #5. I think I would like it better without the jacket (of course this is not taking the temperature into account). The rest are terrific!

Your new sweaters are great!  #1 looks perfect with that outfit and #3 doesn't look dated at all.  I love the scarf in #4 and the sharp colors in #7.  The arm warmers in #6 are fun and I'm glad they lifted your spirits.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ha! I'm honoured you copied me, although I never ended up wearing mine out of the house, either -- and have since donated the pants to MaryK, having decided they just aren't "me."

YOU, however, wear colour super well. My faves here are 4 and 7.

It looks like you have hit your style groove.  My favorites here are the camo jeans in #1 with the light topper, it really showcases the camo.  And the red jeans and brown (or camel?) topper.  Red is a fun color, bright but not too bright.

You put together some very nice outfits here - I especially like #3 and #7. I love how you mirrored the plaid scarf with your shoes in #3, and of course the clear colors in #7 really suit you.

  • E replied 10 years ago

7 is my favourite, like almost everyone else! I also love 3. I don't see what's dated about that sweater, it looks like a classic fisherman one to me, but I don't have much of a dated meter, so I'll trust you. If it were mine, I'd wear it all of the time though. ;)

You are amazing. All of these are so fab. I love the leather jacket on you, and for shoes, the slimmer oxfords and and the plaid converses are super great. Your camos are my dream pair, please tell me I can find a pair like that somewhere.

Late to the party, but had to chime in to say that your hair is growing out well, and that #4, #5 and #7 are fabulous looks for your lifestyle.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Thanks Angie! I was just starting to think of cutting my hair a bit shorter - back to a long pixie - I feel like it's floppy and everywhere in my face and makes me look older....  Perhaps it's just a phase and I should press through it?

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Press through a little longer till you get to Shiny's inverted bob. Then chop it off if you're still sick of it. xo

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Yes, thank you!  I do like Shiny's bob a lot, and I'm not too far away from there.  I'll press through, and cut it in the summer if it's still too much in my way.  I think my slightly shorter bangs (that aren't long enough to tuck behind my ear) are what's bothering me now.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

I actually thought you're looking younger when I flicked through your photos. Your hair is looking great! I also like your outfit selection, and #7 is just incredible.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Thanks Ingunn - I'm noticing so much more gray in my hair lately that I think I'm a little paranoid about it aging me :)
