WIW: Tomboying pastels

Visited a clothing exchange the other day and this yarn-dyed 100% cotton ombre shirt called to me.  It's what I'd call light red at the top, down to white, has red stitching at the seams, and the entire ombre is done with different colored threads woven in, rather than by dying the fabric after manufacture.

But it felt a little weird to wear pink as a tomboy.

Then I did it again, wearing all white with my olive utility jacket.

#3 finally has a dark color (and it's very much a repeat).

Is the top in #1 a keeper?  I don't have many woven tops for summer, and this one, since it's a man's shirt, seems like it could be tomboy-ish in spite of the color.  But I'm not really sure the color does me any favors, and is the shape too blah?

Honestly? It's not my fave on you, but I have a problem with light pink generally. I think you've done a good job with the sneakers. A tie and some horn rim glasses? :).

Haha! Light red, I like that. Not the same as pink!

I find it looks quite nice on you and I do like the ombré effect.

Yeah - I'm not convinced that I'm sold on it either - and I wonder whether I'd really wear it much....  I like the idea of cotton woven button-downs for summer wear, but this probably isn't the right one :)

I like the shirt and think it looks tomboy-ish with the rolled jeans and sneakers.  I think you could swap the shirt into the outfit in #2 and it would look good with the olive jacket and white jeans.  I don't find this shirt to be especially girly even if it is pink.

I actually think the shirt is a great find (and sounds like a fun weaving project). Very happy tomboy. I love #2!

I like the shirt and don't find it girly at all. Maybe try wearing it a couple of times to see if it grows on you. The cons look great - does one have a black tongue and the other a white?

Yeah Glory - good catch!  It's a mismatched pair.  I was really sad when I figured out that my cons weren't a pair (don't know if I used to have two pair, and got rid of one of each or what - they're not even the same size). But the tomboy an outfit up so nicely that I decided to just wear them and rock them.  My younger (college age) siblings wear mis-matched cons all the time.  I'm just joining the trend :)

And I'm hoping so much to come across a real pair of cons that fit properly so that I can be both tomboy and matching.
