WIW: early fall tomboy

The heat finally broke, and I'm loving breaking out some warm-fall items!

I liked both of these outfits in the mirror, but I don't really think the shoes are working with the plaid-shirt outfit.  I'm guessing that the gray espadrilles, or my mis-matched cons would have done better.  Oh well....

What are your suggestions?

That disjunct between mirror and photo can be a killer! But yes, the grey shoes would have worked well with the plaid, Queen Tomboy.

Oh, I am such a flannel plaid shirt lover.  I really like both your outfits. I think that you are right about the first pair of shoes. But it definitely doesn't "undo" the outfit. A different pair of shoes will elevate it.

Yeah - I thought the brown would work because it bookends my hair.  But it doesn't - I'm not sure I know why.  But at least I can tell that it doesn't :)

I dont' think your shoes in #1 are that bad - but yes, the gray ones would look really nice with it.  To me, the shoes in #1 look too gearish for the rest of the outfit (I think!)  Also, I love #2 outfit as compared to #1 - and at first I couldn't figure out why, because it wasn't the shoes.  I realize now that the plaid shirt looks too short to me - while the length and the vibe of the #2 shirt just seems to work better!  Glad the heat broke for you - what a relief!

    Thumbs up from me!

Ahh - good point Marley, about the length of the shirt.  The shirt in #1 is actually a boys shirt (I never thought that I, at 5'9" would wear something from the boys, not mens, department!).  And while it fits great on the shoulders and back, it's short in the sleeves, and probably for a kid a lot shorter in the body for me too.  I'll continue the quest for the perfect-fitting flannel!

I love both these looks on you Aimiable. Casual, confident, ready for action and looking stylish too.

Echoing Marley.  What's the quote, the devil is in the details?  I wouldn't have been able to pinpoint why but I think she nailed it.  Do love you in a plaid/flannel tho.

You look really good in blue, white and brown.  Such good colors on you!

Great outfits x 2!  I love the Tomboy vibe. Agreeing with you that you should swap the shoes out in 1.
