WIW: variations on a theme

I like my black/white/cobalt color combo so much yesterday that I'm wearing it again today.   Here's today's rendition.

The white jeans are a little longer, and less slouchy.  The shoes are oxford booties (maybe shoeties) rather than the knee-high lace-ups. And no black silk scarf today.  I'm adding the Spiegel lemming as a topper for when I go out.

Does it work?  Are the proportions okay?  What are your suggestions?

I find the jeans a little too slouchy- in the hip and thigh area. Any chance you could take it to a seamstress and see what she has to offer? That may be a solution.

    The color combo looks great.

I actually seem to like the slouchy effect!  Feels fresh and so comfortable!  Love your bag!

You look great! Love the colours on you.

Hmm... good point Sona, and it makes me look more closely to compare the fit of these with my other white jeans pair.  (here).  It looks like the other pair fit better.  (Sad - because I prefer the length of these).

I'll see what I can do with these, but I'm not very good at modifying hip and thigh fit :)

The colours look great! Love the bag. I like the slouchy look of the pants.

And cross-posted with Neel and Ceit - thanks to both of you!  I do prefer my jeans to fit slouchy, but I think I also see what Sona sees, especially in pic #1 - there's probably extra room there, beyond just being a slouchy fit...

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Thanks too Neha - this color combo is feeling very 'me' at the moment :)

I love this colour combination! I didn't think anything of the fit of your jeans - I just loved the freshness of the colours! Looks great!!

The color combo is great - and is inspiring me to have another go at a cobalt top I am struggling with, so thanks for that. :) I see what is being said about the extra slouch at the hip area but I have to say that the pants look great to me in image 2, and the scrunch at the ankle is perfect! So I wouldn't despair.

Wow! I think this is one of your best yet! Absolutely stunning on you, and what a brilliant idea to use the striped bag. When I first opened I thought maybe it was the Brahmin!!

It's tough to say about the slouch. Each of us has our own threshold for this. It looks extreme in photo 1 but not in the other photos (to my eye).

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

I agree with Suz that the slouch seems just right in #2 and maybe too baggy in #1 but overall I think you look great and love the striped bag here!

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

I live this color combo that you've been using lately. In fact, it inspired me to buy a cobalt blouse the other day.

I'm not sure about the slouch. I like the relaxed vibe. Something about this looks a bit like you're undecided between relaxed and crisp???

  • replied 10 years ago

To my eye IT WORKS.  I love this on you and wouldn't change a thing.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Good point Amy - I'm generally firmly in camp "relaxed".  This color scheme, though, is definitely on the crisp side, isn't it?  Maybe I'm tottering toward the line between them....  (I have no real intent to cross over though... which makes me think that I NEED to keep the jeans relaxed :)  )

Love this outfit Amy!  The cobalt is a beautiful color on you.  I don't think your jeans are too slouchy at all - I really like the fit as is.

    Fantastic look :)

Love this look on you :)

Amiable, I love both of these looks (yesterday and today).  High happiness factor is apparent!  Slouch looks OK to me.  I really do love the high boots though.  Really cool.

Killer to the power of Killer

You whacked it out of the ballpark with this outfit, Amy. I have no issue with the amount of slouch. Your very best ever, Queen Beatle Bootie. xo

Very stylish, but more fun...just looking at this outfit makes me happy! Gotta love Cobalt.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Snappy and sharply focused. The stripe bag also adds a touch more zip. I am also ok with the *bagginess* of the jeans. It's on-trend.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Wow Thanks you all!  Angie - I'm completely floored, and so flattered.  You made my day!

I think I've just raised the bar on my dressing, haven't I?

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Lovelovelove this outfit! Especially the second photo. One of your best. I like the amount of slouch of your jeans.

  • Freckles replied 10 years ago

So stunnibg on you, really like the addition of the bag!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Somehow I missed yesterday's outfit -- but I saw both this morning.

Yesterday's was great, but today's is absolutely amazing.  Minimal, but perfect, with punch in the color blocking and the bag.

Worth the laundry that comes from wearing white!

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

This is your best outfit so far. I love the slouch of the pants. Awsome color combo and great pieces .

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

All well deserved adoration, Amy. You are a cutie-pie. xo

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Both are fantastic amiable. I love this "inspired by myself", way to go girl :-)
