WIW: in the wind

It was a very windy morning, but not light enough for indoor pics.  So here's some wind-struck outdoor ones :)

Today's orphan is wide-legged jeans.  I know yesterday's rendition of wide legs wasn't very popular, so I thought I'd see if these pass muster.  I wore them with heels and pointy toed boots (I realize you can't see them), a striped top and circle earrings (I thought the lines of the circle were fun with the lines of the top).  I think they looked better IRL than in these windy photos, and probably good enough for me to keep.  But I'm definitely open to feedback.

Light blue topper jacket is up for feedback too. It's oversized - I was going for the cocoon look with it.  But I'm not sure I pulled it off - even without the winds help....

What do you think?

Your make up looks lovely :) The pants look too big imo.

They look big to me too. I don't care for the jacket but I like the blouse on you!

Oh - - I hadn't thought about them being too big - I think you might be right!

Here's  a pic of the same pants (from last year), to see them with no wind.

And, considering that I need to downsize my clothes, that may be the end for these.

I'm kinda thinking I'm not a fan of the jacket either. I liked the idea, and I like the color, but it doesn't quite work.

Yes, too big. Wide legs are tricky to get right, and in my opinion they look best with a fitted topper. You look petite...even trickier to pull off wide legs.

Lol Aquamarine - in those boots, I'm pushing six feet tall.  Those jeans are so purged :)

Yep. Yesterday's winners were so much better. You're swimming in these.

Too bad, I thought the pants looked nice with the top. I really like the top! I don't care for the jacket for some reason.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

In the mirror I thought they did too JAileen.  But that's okay - I'm trying to reduce the number of clothes I own, so if these are less good than others, I'll wear that top with other bottoms :)

I like the top but want to see some arm. I can't honestly say about the jeans but I think the blue jacket is too big.

I think you need to size down, Ami.  And that is saying something coming from me - but I don't think this outfit does you justice.

I agree, all of these pieces seem a bit too oversized. I like the top, but I'd like to see it with perhaps the sleeves rolled a bit, and/or the neckline unbuttoned, and/or a semi-tuck. Right now it is giving off a boxy kind of oversized appearance, and I think one of those adjustments will help it look more fluid.

I meant to add that I also think your makeup and earrings look fantastic!

First -- I want to say that you look particularly lovely. Your hair and makeup are just fab! And I love your circle earrings. But I will have to agree with the other ladies that the pants are simply too big on you. Are they worth taking in and narrowing just a tad? If not, I say pass on to someone else.

Agreed, I like the shirt, but the pants are a bit big.

Your make-up is gorgeous, you look so cute.

Amiable, I love how you did the colors in this outfit, but overall I sense too much volume here.  The blouse is long in the arm, the pants seem too large.  I feel like I want to see something adjusted to "shrink-wrap" your clothes around your figure a little bit, like you could do the top with a skinnier pant silhouette, maybe tucking the blouse and belting the waistband of the pant.  Or, I don't know how you feel about waist belts on the outside,  but you could do a low-slung belt over the top and skinner jeans. A silver buckle would be cool with your silver earrings.

If you open your shirt neck you have a whole other opportunity to pop in another print or color if you want. And I think a solid back or smaller pattern would be better against the horizontal stripe in your top.
