WIW: sour green

Today's orphan (day 12) is a green cabled sweater.  It's been an orphan for a long time.  Last year I didn't wear it because it felt too big and loose.  This year I like the fit better (wish it was longer though), but the sour green of the sweater is really throwing me.  It took several attempts this morning to style is in a way that I thought I could wear.  (They key ended up being combining it with a cool color to offset the yellowish undertone of the green).

So, I'm okay with this outfit - it might be a tad preppy for me, I'm not sure (do you think it is?).  But I'm not sure this sweater is versatile enough to keep around.  What do you think?

And as always, I welcome suggestions for improvement!

WIW: experimental blues

After Ceit's excellent use of mixed blues today, I decided to go blue too.

Today's orphan (day 11, I think? Wow) is nearly everything I'm wearing.

First up, the bootcut jeans. I think they work and fit well - do they?   (They're just a tad long for these shoes - I'll wear them with low heels next time)

Next up is the navy mock-turtleneck.  I'd only wear it as a layering piece, and I'd prefer a lower neck - but the high neck is nice for a chilly day, like today.

Finally, the short-sleeved navy/white circus striped cardi.  Worth keeping?  I like the punch it brings to the outfit.

Also, I realize this isn't a huge hit of an outfit, so you may see me change a time or two during the day...  I know you're patient like that and can handle it :)

WIW: in the wind

It was a very windy morning, but not light enough for indoor pics.  So here's some wind-struck outdoor ones :)

Today's orphan is wide-legged jeans.  I know yesterday's rendition of wide legs wasn't very popular, so I thought I'd see if these pass muster.  I wore them with heels and pointy toed boots (I realize you can't see them), a striped top and circle earrings (I thought the lines of the circle were fun with the lines of the top).  I think they looked better IRL than in these windy photos, and probably good enough for me to keep.  But I'm definitely open to feedback.

Light blue topper jacket is up for feedback too. It's oversized - I was going for the cocoon look with it.  But I'm not sure I pulled it off - even without the winds help....

What do you think?

WIW: Weekend jeans standoff

Since I'm in dejunking mode, I decided that three pair of weekending "grub" jeans is too many.

So here's all three.  Which are keepers?

#1-2 7ForAllMankind, nice big pockets, super comfy, but do they look like mom jeans?

#3-4 BKE, require a belt, I like the back flaps and the distressing.

#5-6 X2, nice big pockets, they're not as weirdly colored as the front pic looks - that's the sun shining through the leaves making weird spots.  The legs are wide and straight rather than tapered like the other two.

What do you think?  I'd like to keep one, maybe two pair (if two are worth keeping - I'll probably only ever wear one in a wash cycle).

And look at that, my tag of my sweater was up all. day. long.

(p.s. So far, thirty bags of stuff has either been donated or sold from our house, woot!)

WIW: orphan day 8 - swashbuckling

Orphan challenge day 8 already.  (I had to go back and count - I'm surprised it's been more than a week already).

Today's orphan is this flowy cascade cardigan.  It very narrowly escaped the start-of-autumn purge, but I  think I really do like it.

When I paired it with these tall boots, I immediately saw the piratey potential, so last night to take the kids out trick-or-treating, I brought that out with a striped top, black scarf over my head, a single hoop and an eye patch. (pic #2)

What do you think?  Too piratey for everyday wear? How should this drapey cardi be styled?
